TGS 08: Chibi Dynasty Warrior hotness! photo

The Battle of Chi Bi was a famous historical battle in Sanguo Era China, upon which Dynasty Warriors is based. The Battle of Chibi would be that battle, only involving these cute, bobbleheaded little freaks.

I snapped a shot of these at the dominating Koei booth in the second hall of the Tokyo Game Show, and I want all of them. Mikey Foley of Koei's UK department tells me he's trying to get some for this month's London Expo, but no promises.

With Koei being such a well-known publisher in Japan, it's natural that there is a lot of Dynasty Warriors merchandise, some of which even Koei in the US and UK doesn't know about. These figures, and the weapons photographed below, are just some of what's out there.

Also, I did more than just hang out with Koei. More previews from the TGS showfloor, including Vanillaware's Muramasa and impressions of the conceptually wonderful Edge of Twilight to come!

Isn't posting about cute toys kind of redundant now? It isn't like Destructoid has a sister site dedicated to that.

Oh hello Tomopop, how're you doing?

randombullseye:

By that token, posting about Japan is redundant since we have a sister site for that as well.

Only ... the idea is bloody silly.

Yeah, we'd best not speak of Japan. Tis a silly place.

Can I find these in those little bubble capsule toy machines? If so, I know where all my coins are going when I go to Taiwan in a few months.

I never thought Sterling would ever use the word "Chibi" in his game writing career.

Is it wrong that I can name who those weapons belong to and what Kingdom they belong to? Meh.
