Remember Tetris Party? It was that WiiWare game where you could control the falling block with your Balance Board. It also had online support and stuff. I have no idea what playing Tetris with your feet was like, but it probably wasn't really all that great. Novelty begets more novelty, however, and we are thus getting a sequel to the game.
Silconera uncovered that Germany’s USK rated Tetris Party Deluxe. From the title it sounds like the game will simply be a newer version of the original game, but with more features. In reality isn't that what almost every Tetris sequel is anyway? Maybe this time it will integrate Wii MotionPlus support for no reason at all.

Anyway, this had Incredibly competitive gameplay.

Haha, THIS JUST IN, DTOID IS RACIST, MATTHEW BELIEVES THE HOLOCAUST NEVER HAPPENED, JIM STILL BIASED :P
This is possibly the best illustration I've ever seen of a games writer having no idea what he is talking about, and passing judgment specifically on his lack of information.
You write as if the balance board 'mode' of Tetris Part was not only it's main selling point, but it's main feature. In reality, it is the smallest and least-compelling feature of the game. Try playing games before judging them.
Yeah, as seaniccus says, this is incredibly bad reporting.
Yes, Matthew, I do remember Tetris Party. It's one of the best and most full-featured console implementations of Tetris anywhere, of which the balance board control is one tiny portion (and a gimmick I'm sure almost nobody uses). The multiplayer is excellent, both locally and online, and there's more modes and options available than in pretty much any other modern version of Tetris aside from the DS game. You'd know this if you'd bothered to read even one review of the game - or, to be really crazy, played it.
That it's getting a sequel is great news. It's a great value and any Tetris fan who has a Wii and doesn't own it yet should pick it up for sure. The only WiiWare game with a permanent spot on my Wii's front page.
Well... I'm new here. I joined Destructioid because I was telling a friend (his nickname is Sheppy... he has a blog here) about how great Destructiod's threads and commenters are.
But this thread is very bad wrong... the guy who wrote the thread clearly hasn't played Tetris Party.
Seriously, Tetris Party is one the best (definitely in the top 3) versions of Tetris. It is extremely complete, with tons of features and game modes (some modes are even exclusive to this particular game)...
The value that you get for the price is excellent.
So... please, play the game first (you clearly haven't) and then do an Update. Little things like this is why blogs get a bad reputation.
ha ha , what a moron Razak made himself out to be. I bet he thought everone was gonna be all " yah that game sucked". When in reality its one of Wiiwares finest. Maybe next time you won't be such a douche for no reason at all.
Crap. The cached version with leaked details on the product has been updated with the information removed.
Essentially, Tetris Party Deluxe is an updated retail release of the WiiWare game. There will be a Wii and DS version with both games supporting online play, voice chat (yes, Wii Speak and the DS mic) and new/updated modes.
I really hope they improve the response time between button presses and gameplay movement, the 1st was sorely lacking the instant press-for-press brilliance of Tetris DS (my favorite game of all time)
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

*cough*
Separate Wii and DS versions are planned. Nice.

If there are more Tournaments where you can win Wii Points, I will be getting this.
