Tetris meets monster battling in Tetris Monsters

7:30 PM on 08.05.2013

What genre or style of game hasn't been mashed up with Tetris yet? What about monster hunting role-playing? Let me check the list... nope! Doesn't look like it! You're clear to go!

The latest Tetris variant is Tetris Monsters, an iOS game that, as its name implies, will require you to clear lines in order to execute attacks during battle. From the trailer, it appears that the more lines you clear at a time, the greater the attack combo. The character art looks cute enough, which ought to rope in kawaii-loving Japanese players by the truckload.

Electronic Arts is publishing this, which guarantees that it'll be free-to-play with microtransactions pouring out the ass. Tetris Monsters is targeting release in Japan this year, but knowing EA, the game will find its way Westward soon enough.

Review: Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc was an intelligent riff on the perils of high school -- you know, if you had thrown a murder mystery in between classes and the principal was a maniacal stuffed animal. Its sequel, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, takes a beleaguered trope and turns it on its head. This is one "trapped on a desert island" story that takes things to another level entirely.more
