'I hope your consoles catch fire'

Terraria has today been announced for consoles, coming to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network with extra content. PC users, expecting a major announcement and feeling gypped, are absolutely furious. Justified? Maybe. A bit too angry? Quite possibly so.

Terraria is a game all about mining, building, and seeking treasure. Though very similar to Minecraft, the game's role-playing elements and Metroid qualities won it quite a lot of its own acclaim. It's got a hugely dedicated following on PC already, as evidenced by the fury they're exhibiting right now.

Naturally, you're curious as to what folks are saying, which is why I trawled through the Facebook announcement replies to get the best reactions. Thanks to everyone who let me know, by the way. I appreciate the chance to wade through this philosophical collection of heartfelt quotes.

"know what? this basically proves Red as a money grubbing whore. first you say you want to abandon the project, because you felt it was UNFINISHED. and NOW you want us to buy the shit again? two words: FUCK THAT! and NO i'm not buying Starbound either..." - Ricky Gervais

"wtf are u doing terraria guys? 99% of us are pc gamers who want fucking new content cause we payed money for the game...dont understand this shit srsly.." - Yannick

"I HOPE YOUR CONSOLES CATCH FIRE AS SOON AS YOU PUT TERRARIA IN!" - Anemicni Oliver

"so... the big update is we have to buy it again, probably for more money, on a console the game wouldn't even feel comfortable on? great. i lost sleep over nothing." - Adam

"Fuck this shit, i bought it on Comp just like i did Minecraft .... and i bet you wont give me anything for having it on comp will you?" - Nathan

"consoles are dieing who cares??? this is a total failure" - Tobias

"HAHAHAHA consoles." - Rowen

"OH God ! You are copying this Idea from Mojang. -.- First they make a Xbox version and then you copy instead of satisfy the PC Gamers -.-" - Marco

"Wow. Seriously? You abandon the PC game to release THIS. This confirms my suspicion that you guys are just in it for the money now." - Courtney

"Welp. Promises constant updates for PC = Quits after one impressive update, but gives new content to console fanboys. - The Terraria Story." - Nicholas

"WHY?! There are so many people expecting something for Terraria on the PC and you come to me with such news?! If Terraria abandoned for a while, and come back with him to Console, AT LEAST AN UPDATE ON THE Terraria PC MUST HAVE! There are so many people wanting to play new content (no mods), and you want to launch the console in Terraria?

They did very, very wrong." - Henrique

"And now I can stop caring about this game. Thanks for ignoring the PC guys who made the game a success in the first place." - Danny

"Let me guess...gonna have to purchase it AGAIN for the console?..." - Matt (Who the fuck is forcing these people to buy multiple copies? - Jim)

"To Terraria developers, STOP TROLLING YOUR PC TERRARIA FANS!!!! Planning something big, now playstation and xbox, all the 1.6 MILLION people who play it on pc want to know is. Are you letting it die? Or are you going to torture it to death?" - Logan

"this is some fucking shit why the fuck would you do that !!" - Gary

"what i want to know is do i have to pay for the game again on my ps3 or do i get a special code to get it free" - Einar

"Money hungry mother fuckers. Let a game die, and when you need a jump in profits, just simply port it." - Michael

"Terraria absolutely went to SHIT. Honestly, we don't need fucking console crap. Terraria was good when everything was constantly getting updated. By all means, throw your fucking game down a well." - Bryce

"Today, something died inside of me, something, that may never be given back. Redigit, I'm sorry, but I'm better off with Starbound. May the best of lucks be with you." - Lok

"No fucking way!You only succeeded thanks to us PC gamer's that bought Terraria and not the console gamers. Not that i want to be a PC fanboy but really it shouldn't be released on consoles at allt. For instance why not allowing some other developer work on Terraria instead of putting it on consoles instead of focusing on "reviving" the game instead?" - David

"And so my relatively good day was obliterated from existence." - David

"Well thats a good way to fuck your existing consumers on the pc version, you stop making updates and shit. Then you reveal a 'Amazing pile of dump' For crappy consoles. How amazing!" - Josh
