I'm not talking in the metaphorical, "that's kinda twisted" sort of way. No, this trailer looks visually dark. I realize that it's a game about ninja striking silently in the inky blackness of deepest night but, man, it's really hard to see anything here.

I loves me some stealth in my games but, for some reason, Tenchu never really grabbed my attention. I've bought several of them and they've never felt as polished as some of the other series. I will give them a little credit, though. Killing guards with poisoned rice balls is entertaining on multiple levels.

Since it's coming to Wii, there will no doubt be a fair bit of waggle involved. While with most games those actions can become really repetitive, it might actually work better in Tenchu. The game is really more about sneaking up on your target and less throwing shruiken or swinging your sword, so the Wii remote could function pretty well for this.

What do you think? Am I trying too hard to justify the game just because I want a hardcore title from a third-party to appear on Wii?

The original Tenchu, FYI, was the only good Tenchu. The bosses were fun, the levels were well made, and it felt like everything was useful and put to good use. The rest were crap or unbalanced.

It's really annoyingly dark. I'm skeptical, very much so.

No, I think you're right; since you should ideally only *deal with* a handful of guards per level, the motions shouldn't get too old. I imagine, anyway.

@ Milkeyed: Tenchu 3: Wrath of Heaven was the best Tenchu, evar. It paid homage to and surpassed the original with a TON of kickass levels, the return of the GOOD grappling hook, a bonus character who didn't suck, and finally an explanation about how the hell Rikimaru got out of the tragic ending he suffered at the end of T1. It had decent multiple storylines, way more ninja weapons and even a two-player mode.

I'm loving the idea of serious ninja action on my Wii. Even if it isn't a triple A title, it looks pretty good and will certainly be better than the shovelware out there.

I like the look. It looks like it would be fun to play at midnight in a dark room.
