Leipzig is on, and Harmonix and Electronic Arts are setting things off by announcing Rock Band for the European market, along with ten new tracks. Not surprisingly, they've also announced that Rock Band will be making its way to the PlayStation 2, featuring "new game elements specific to the platform," which they've not revealed.
The ten tracks (all masters) include:
Rolling Stones “Gimme Shelter,” Deep Purple "Highway Star," The Clash “Should I Stay or Should I Go,” Faith No More "Epic,” Smashing Pumpkins “Cherub Rock,” Radiohead “Creep,” Beastie Boys “Sabotage,” Jet “Are You Gonna Be My Girl,” OK Go “Here It Goes Again,” and Nine Inch Nails “The Hand That Feeds.”
What's really interesting (and kind of disappointing) is that two of those tracks were already announced for Rock Bands "competitor," Guitar Hero III -- both "Sabotage" and "Cherub Rock" both appear in Activisions guitar title. Additionally, the Stroke's "Repilia" will also be featured in both games.
Keep posted to Destructoid today for some hands-on with the most recent build of Rock Band, including a video you won't want to miss.

Fucking bastards.
Faith No More's Epic is fantastic.
Damn...this is making the GH3/Rock Band decision even harder.
Curses!
On another note, NINE INCH NAILS!!? FUCKING RADIOHEAD!!!? CAN'T WAIT!!!
Sadly, choosing between both is a little easier with the face that Rock Band isn't coming out till next year for europe, which was actualy mentioned in this announcement.
Europe to wait till 2008 for Rock Band
Also they haven't specifically announced Rock Band for PS2 for America, but it's pretty much guarenteed.
However, addition OK Go and Radiohead is awesome.
Awesome!
Though bearign in mind it all still involves making sure i have enough money both, no matter what year they are released, the choice is still necessary.
Anyway, Radiohead are fucking aweful IMO so that gives GH3 +10 so long as it remains Radiohead free.
This song list is giving me a mean hard-on.
The sound track keeps getting better and better, this game is going to ROCK
That's what student loans are for :D
I no longer value your opinion good sir! Blasphemy!
So when is this rumored Wii version gonna come to fruition? I don't think it would be any better on the system, just you know, a huge chance to make a shit load of money...
But a dilemma - do I get an Xbox 360 and the 360 version, or the PS2 one?
I guess it depends if my GH controllers will work..
@GuitarAtomik:
As sad as i am that my opinion is no longer considered by you as good anymore, i cannot justify listening to some whiny, depressing, boring ass music that has some inbred leprechaun hobo thing wailing a load of turgid lyrics over the top of it.
That's just how i feel.
When GH 3 was in early development, they weren't in different companies, IE HMX was developing both. When they were bought out, Neversoft kept the rights to some of the songs and used them.
Radiohead is epic. But you have every right to disagree :]
Although it's kind of a waste putting the same SP song in both games..it's a great guitar song to be sure, but for the whole band, they have much better songs. Tonight, Tonight or Bullet With Butterfly Wings for vocals or Stand Inside Your Love or United States for drums.
Agreed.
Thanks, Harmonix! I love your hot body!
Didn't do Mike Patton's "fish out of water" dance tho.
Pumpkins is also awesome..
God I'm hearing too many shit overly mainstream tracks now that this is EA/MTV headed. I bet they aren't even going to have bonus tracks from bands you never heard...
That being said, it's coming out for PS2!? I assume they are "adding" stuff to make up for it not being able to do DLC.
Anyways, I still really want to play this, but damn... not much exciting news one it.
