Maybe you're like me and spent your weekend fighting against illness, unable to brave the cold world to pick up a copy of New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Or maybe you're just not yet convinced after our stellar review of the title.

Either way, here's the first ten minutes, which will probably not push you away if you were on the fence and may only serve to motivate you to grab a copy. The game is great fun and I'm really enjoying my run through it thus far. Of course, it's hard to go wrong with a 2D Mario title.

Lots of you have already grabbed the game, but what about the rest of you? Does the new propeller hat compel you as it has me?

The audio certainly hasn't grown up from the SNES days.

HOW CAN YOU LEAVE COINS BEHIND. They're like wounded soldiers.

You need to do this but with 4p co-op!

Good game is good.

Also, play it multiplayer with friends. Ideally friends you wouldn't lose your friendship with if you slugged them in the shoulder over something like getting eaten by Yoshi when you're small size then spit out into an enemy that killed you.

The more I play NSMBW, the farther up my game of the year list it creeps.

@koehler

The audio's supposed to be that -- It's a retro-style Mario game. Super Mario Galaxy is what you want if you want updated music.

This game is good, but hard as shit in parts, especially if you are trying to collect those big coins. The propeller cap helps tremendously in almost every level, so I constantly find myself going back to level 1-1 to get it to beat a boss or something.

Awesome game, but I just wish they'd allow you to use the classic controller. The sideways wiimote d-pad feels like it was designed for toddlers.

@ -PL- Wow, I never heard that one before. I always assumed that everyone thought that sideway Wii remote controls are designed for people in their late 20s.early 30s who grew up with the NES.

Also, I've but at least two hours into NSMB Wii, and I still haven't started in on World 2. I've just replayed the first world over and over again with friends, and it just doesn't get old.

This game is beyond amazing.
Knew I'd love it the moment the big N announced it at E3. And the Wiimote Held sideways? It works just fine, thank you.
Only thing, I know the game stresses co-op play, but it would have been sweet if there was a mode for two players to take turns completing levels, like in SMB3, and/or jump into levels together, when needed. Other than that this game is one fine 2D platforming Mario masterpiece.
Also, Koopalings! =)

@Johnathan Holmes

Given the option of using a real NES controller (or preferably a SNES controller given this game) via SNES/NES->GC adapter or SNES/NES->Wii Remote adapter, or using the Super Famicom classic controller (its basically a Super Famicom controller you hook up to your Wii-Remote and it shows up just like a Wii Classic Controller) would be more ideal from the nostalgia point of view. Then again I'm a bit OCD about using a preferred controller with a game:

i've only just beat level 3, and this game is already in the same ballpark as smb3 and smw. this coming from a 29yr old gamer who's favorite game is smb3. i can't believe what a well polished game this is. can't wait for the hd footage to hit the net, because this game is PRETTY!

The d-pad is TINY. Smaller than an NES d-pad. Also, if I accidentally jump from shaking the controller one more time, I'm going to go insane.
