Ah, Lunar. It still stands in my top ten game series of all time. I fell in love with the old Sega CD versions way back in the day, fell in love again with the fantastic PlayStation versions, and now I'm ready to replay one of my favorites on the PSP in its revised form, now called Lunar: Harmony of Silver Star.
What we have here is the first ten minutes, intro and all. If you've played the game before, you'll remember all the anime cutscenes and character introductions. These are all here, and most of that looks the same. The town's a bit different, though. Better looking, I'd say.
Of course, this is in Japanese, coming from a demo released in Japan. I'd say we're a ways away from a US demo, but you never know. Look for my full impressions of the demo tomorrow.
["Ten Minute Taste" is something new we're trying here at Destructoid. Simply put, we'll rip the first ten minutes of a game to video -- loading screens, warts and all, no commentary to sway you in any direction -- so you can judge it and experience it exactly as you would when you first pop the game in. Let us know what you think.

Keep the 10min impressions, it's a very nice feature fiting well to complete other aspects of demos, text/video previews and PR boasting from publishers
I really hope XSEED gets the songs from the English playstation release, it's just not the same in Japanese. (Especially for that boat scene later. That scene would be stupid if Luna suddenly inexplicably started singing in Japanese...) And man, I thought Nall was annoying in English, his Japanese voice is even worse. Ramus is much better though.
Anywho, looking forward to this game, hopefully all the changes won't ruin what made the original game special, especially with no Working Designs around anymore.
@Mozgus
I'd argue that the shitty Giant Bomb commentary hurts the videos. All I want to see is gameplay: often times, the GB crew will actually say something factually inaccurate about the game, which turns me off.
Wow funny, I just for the first time today popped in my Lunar Complete disc I bought off ebay last year never having played it before, and now this. I'm not really enjoying the english dub much but maybe the psp remake will have the option for japanese.
I have both games that were remade. Now I know the english dub version was inferior to the Jap version. But hey it was all I have. Also I really did like the game. I so so pray they do have an option to have A jap audio track for the psp.
Ten Minute Taste should be Thirty Minute Taste at least for RPGs. If that was Final Fantasy XIII, you probably wouldn't have pressed a button on the controller for more than 5 times. Anyway, I'm excited for yet another classic RPG on the PSP.
And holy fucking shit, the first thing you do in this game is open a fucking hidden treasure chest.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Always a pleasure to see old games getting put back in the spotlight.

Actually, it would be funny if somebody took these and added their own voiceover. Maybe we should do a contest about that.

And I just love my PSP more and more everyday.
It's a shame, was looking forward to seeing this game in action.

Also Lunar is fucking incredible.
