You already know that I adore the game, but I thought I might show you what it looks like. Much like our other Ten Minute Taste videos, you'll see Forza Motorsport 3 from the beginning, intro and all. But, since the intro's not that short, I go through some game play.
You'll see me look through cars, test drive one, show of some of the photo functions, go through a replay and more. I even start on a championship race, but it doesn't finish. I get 2nd place, losing my lead in the last 500 yards of the race. Isn't that some sh*t?
Should I hit up multiplayer, too? There's not too many people playing, but there's one asshole that keeps nudging me out.
["Ten Minute Taste" is something new we're trying here at Destructoid. Simply put, we'll rip the first ten minutes of a game to video -- loading screens, warts and all, no commentary to sway you in any direction -- so you can judge it and experience it exactly as you would when you first pop the game in. Let us know what you think.

You need to start it at the menus at least... ten minutes is long enough to show the game off (especially when like the loco roco one you spent forever scrolling through menus).
If you want to get an idea of how to do a feature like this go check out GiantBomb. Their quick looks show enough of the game whilst the commentary inject human and guides you through the games intricacies.
Onlineatron - this is a different objective. We want to show the game in raw form, no commentary on purpose.
It seems like many people want to see commentary as well, which can be another thing we try. My question - is uncut, unedited video of a game exactly as it is played for the first time valuable, or does everyone prefer a production?
I understand your going for a different style of video...
What i'm saying is that the different style of video does not work. It takes far too long to get to the good stuff and the good stuff can be overshadowed by the fact that people may not understand why or how your doing things.
I like the uncut format of the videos. I think seeing things like the load times and all of that is important and it is nice not having someone flapping their mouth the whole time. Most games however, I prefer to wait and just be surprised by them.
I like the concept... however, part of me feels it is like seeing a new girlfriend naked for the first time on a video instead of alone in person. It sort of cheapens the moment when you finally get to see it firsthand.
Yeah... I'm not sure what it says about me that I equate the first experience with a game to the first time seeing a new significant other naked... haha... :|
I'm definitely not saying you guys shouldn't keep doing it though, there are just some people who might prefer to not watch that stuff ahead of time. I do think there are a lot more people that will be interested in this feature than not though. I think it could persuade me to pick up a game I might not have been interested in otherwise.
I like seeing games in this raw form. It does raise some interesting questions like "wow, that's a long load screen. I wonder if saving the game to the hard drive improves this game." While that's certainly a question I'd love an answer to, I don't wish for destructoid to start doing comparison matrices. That's a fucking slippery slope.
But does this game really have no music by default?
I really love this feature, please Niero don't change it just yet, I think you can still win over the community.
Watching the first ten minutes warts and all is a fantastic way to view a game, I also like to see how different people interact with a games menus and options which never come across on any other site, not even the breast laden GameTrailers :)
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
"Thirty Minute Thirst"
to use on longer games like RPGs, which need more than 10 minutes to really get a feel for the gameplay.

We do commentary on big games already, but not for previews. At least not yet but we're interested in doing this as well.

But I don't think people want videos dedicated to highlighting the warts of anticipated titles.
No offense. Racing games don't float my boat.

Looking forward to some more!
