Sunday morning was full of surprises, one of them being Target selling Assassin's Creed 2 a bit early. The amusing part was when the cashier realized the game wasn't released until Tuesday -- after he sold it to me. I just smiled and nodded and handed him a Destructoid business card, saying, "You're doing the gaming community proud, son," as I walked out of the store with an evil grin and laugh.
If there was an award for the "Best TMT Ever," I'd be more than happy to nominate Assassin's Creed 2. Within seconds of popping in the game disc, you'll be immediately greeted with an "O" face, when everything you thought you knew about Assassin's Creed will be turned upside down and then some.
If these first ten minutes don't get you pumped up and excited for some Ass-Kicking-Creed, I don't know what will. But, be warned children. There's tons of spoilers, and placenta. Yes, you heard me, placenta! That is all.
I just thought of it. Maybe the next assassins creed will take place in modern day? We can't keep using this one dude to keep going back in time. Maybe the Templar get close and he has to do what is ancestors did and kick some ass. I think that would be badass.
Back in the 8-bit days I dreamed of the videogames that would be possible once consoles had the power of supercomputers. Never did I imagine digital placenta.
this is getting old quick. write a real dam story and quit copping out to these easy spoiler video blogs. be original, instead of stealing what some other site has been doing, get original interviews. what pissed me off more than anything was topher stepping on Yojimbo's copy blog when all y'all do is copy some other sites interview and add a quick two cents to make it sound not so copy. fuck hypocrites.
The animations for the future sequence look like shit! Like I was actually disgusted looks at Desmond and that women. There faces are terrible. I really hope to god all the stuff that takes place in the past looks alot better. You know what pisses me off the most about this series the Desmond (future) sections of the game. I fucking hate them and they aren't needed at all!
Now I think about it, it also seems kind of telling that there have been no reviews out yet. Seems like they're forcing them to wait until the last second, not good.
I don't consider these 10 minute tastes "Spoilers". Maybe spoilers to the first game since it recaps in this video, but because it starts at powering on the system for the first time, I consider it part of the sequential events with first playing of the game. Anything learned is the same order it would be spoiled as if I were playing the game.
And trust me, I won't watch movie trailers for movies I know are good because I like the in theater surprise, but this is cool by me.
???WTF are you saying, even if you are trying to be "funny" by sounding like and idiot, hint...you're not...
anyways just paid off my preorder....and unless the reviewers were paid off a, 5 out of 5 and a 9/ 10 sound pretty good to me and the graphics wont kill me....Just wish they did the cutscenes out of house with CG or something...cause they look okay but not great
I fucking knew that was going to happen. Only way to actually open the sequel.
Anyways, anyone get the feeling that we're going to get annoyed with Nolan North any time soon? He's a fantastic voice actor but damn he's in A LOT recently. Shadow Complex, ODST, Uncharted, Assassin's, Dark Void (the next with him in it) then another Prince of Persia game. Seriously damn he gets a lot of work/around.
The game looks okay so far, I was a little taken back by how crappy Lucy's face looked but as long as it's fun and a major improvement over the first I'll enjoy it. I already had the Master Edition reserved so I'll be picking that up tomorrow along with Left 4 Dead 2.

Shut...the...fuck...up.
It's that easy, just shut the fuck up. If you don't like what you see on Destructiod then just move along and bitch about another site, no one is forcing you to use this site. So stop being a bitchy little dick head and move along or shut the fuck up.
Am I the only one who thinks that you should've been greeted with the old animus interface? I mean, I get the new one on the Assassin's Animus but not on the Abstergo one. Also, why in the world would your animus have that much space when all the others are in cubicles... many many plot holes.... I guess they figure you just won't notice.
This plot is so painfully fucking bad that I'm going to look seriously at the spam emails selling vicodin. And yes, her face is hilariously, awesomely, incredibly shit.
@ socialnorms: How you can determine the plot of the entire game from a 10 minute video that doesn't really show that much?
Anyway, I'm still gonna buy this (on Friday, cursed European release dates), and the fact you actually get to do something with Desmond other than walk around is a good thing.
Why did they use the old engine for the recap? Obviously they have models of the characters and the rooms, why not just re-render it in the new so that the difference isn't quite so jarring when you see new Desmond and Lucy?
Maybe it's not so much about taste, but more about importance. Maybe what lied in Desmond's mind was ALOT more important than the ones in the people in the other Animuses or Anumisi?
I'd understand that, but it' always been implied through the first game that the reason the room was so big was because of the power, both energy and processing wise required. That's why there was a giant ambiguous pit beneath your animus and why there were like 20 computers with what essentially looked like gases off of liquid nitrogen flowing out of them. If that wasn't the case then whatever, I just don't get why that was the case. Also, if they'd shown an update in the software(the Animus from AC1 was 1.43 I think) then it'd be a very easy way to explain the new interface.
Also... these TMTs suck. I can't watch them due to spoilers... Would much prefer a Quick Look style video with an select gameplay section to avoid spoilers.
Ubisoft released like 100 dev diaries with plenty of gameplay footage. :) This is something a bit different, and we know they're not for everyone. And yes, sometimes they are all spoilery.
I don't mind the TMT things. They are meant to be the first 10 minutes when you start up the game. Nothing is really spoiled about the particular game that's going to change your experience. They aren't showing the ending that you'll have to trudge through 12 hours of gameplay to find the deep secrets of. They are showing what will happen when you slap the disc in your machine.
Don't get me wrong, I love the QLs on GB too, but I just don't have any problem with TMTs.
"I just smiled and nodded and handed him a Destructoid business card, "You're doing the gaming community proud, son." I said, as I walked out of the store with an evil grin and laugh."
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Thanks for giving me a reason to test our new private message feature.

He seems to be the Stephen Blum/Johnny young Bosch of games.

Though that is a horrendously easy achievement.
Sorry, I'll try not to sound like "and idiot" anymore. However, if you couldn't tell I was being sarcastic, I might not be the one who is "and idiot".
can you make a 12 minute taste PLEAAAAAASE?
I'll grab this one day, promise! (I really need to know where they're headed.. lol)

I thought it was damn boring, actually.
And the stupid, "Control your character to follow another character and advance the plot" thing is almost never a good idea.
Also, Desmond realizes he's in a dangerous situation, but he's still making stupid quips while he's supposed to be sneaking out of a secure building?
Oh well, at least there was a horribly awkward fight scene at the end!
@ DinnertimeNinja: Yeah, that was awkward. You'd think Desmond would at least remember some of Altair's fighting skills. Instead of WINDMILLS.
BAD ASS STORY!
@wh1terav3n, Sorry. I'm a sucker for cinematic money shots and Micheal Bay jizz pie.
