....hughghu..... >.<;
Damn, now I want to play that game again...
I don't hate that guy yet everyone seems to have an ridiculously amount of hate for him.
Yup he is a whiney proto emo boy, but damnit he has been the only final fantasy character i have ever related with... and that makes me sad.
Having a tragic backstory does not forgive being annoying, NOTHING forgives beyond annoying, terribly written and quite frankly, just boringly designed...
And that is why FF13 is never forgiven. Oh wait, I was talking about Vanille, same with her.
The rest of the list is fine to me.
I'm just glad you didn't include Waluigi on this list. We would have to stop being friends if you had.
Seeing how everyone is just always depressed and whining all the time, how could you not like the one cheerfull character.
REALLY hate Hope -.-* a shame you can't just shoot him, game would be 1000% better.
As for hating Enzo...he samed more like the sane humour in Bayonetta.
Hmmn Vanille, I like both her Japanese voice and Australian voice. I also liked her interaction with Sazh.
From that list the characters I can say I dislike are Slippy and Navi. I don't hate them, just dislike them.
My most hated videogame character right now¿ Nightmare from Soul Calibur V on the hardest difficulty.
Humans controlling him, not so bad......computer AI controlling him, he is really a nightmare.
Same with Hope. When you know why he's so "teen angry", you feel bad for him.
Jansen's one of the best characters in Lost Odyssey.
Well, suggestive actions involving Ming notwithstanding.
Wow.
Other than the ultra-superficial reasons (which I think are somewhat perpetuated by the people who make the games, especially in Japan) I think a large part of it is simply group-think and taking pleasure in a sort of sublimated form of active rejection. The vibe I get is that it's kind of fun to decide who's cool in a video game then make fun of who isn't. Even making flash games about punching them in the face. It mirrors the social world. It's kind of annoying, and it can skew the characters themselves as you so astutely pointed out a character like Vanille who is one of the more well-rounded and transformative, but acts like a child initially as a result of personal trauma. Didn't hurt that she was probably into other women, as well.....
And for the record, Edward was awesome and raidens story was definitely under appreciated.
Tingle! Tingle! Kooloo-Limpah!... These are the words that Tingle created himself. Don't steal them!
"Vanille is possibly the worst Squenix character ever made IMO"
Agreed with Sir Tobbii
She's horrible.
As for Navi, I didn't hate her. She was annoying, but no more than a younger sibling. When I hear people say they hate her, I always assumed it was that affectionate kind of hate. Seems I was wrong.
And I like hearing the Colonel Ai bot thing say his name =P
Plus he has some of the more memorable scenes. The night in Kaipo where he goes out and plays his song for Anna will forever be etched in my mind, such a beautiful scene. Even when that swamp hag attacks. Sure, Cecil could have just brushed that monster off, but that was Edward's moment of freaking triumph.
As far as fighting games go, people really seem to hate Ken Masters in Street Fighter. Yeah, he's kind of cheap and a cocky douchebag, but you know what? He wears red. Like Rodimus Prime. Rodimus Prime is cool!
Right?
Fuck [MK3] Stryker, though.
Also, I'd put Claptrap on my list. I've always found him cute. >.>
Oh, and I like Navi.
Also in terms of Baby Mario, I use to hate him because of his crying, but then one of my friends pointed something out: Baby Mario only cries when you get hit. Therefore if you don't want him to cry, don't get hit. Simple as that.
