Telltale making The Walking Dead and Fables videogames photo

The rumors are true! Telltale will be working on a series of videogames based on the AMC television series of The Walking Dead. SVP of marketing at Telltale, Steve Allison, told All Things Digital that they want to see "one million digital downloads" for this new project and feels that "The Walking Dead could become a $20 million to 30 million franchise if all goes well."

Additionally, it's been announced that Telltale is working on games based on the comic book series, Fables.

That's all for now, but I'll have more for you soon as Destructoid is attending a Telltale conference tonight where we expect to see these newly announced games plus Jurassic Park.

Telltale Signs That Videogames Will Be Downloaded, Not Sold at Retail [All Things Digital -- Thanks, Adam Dork!]

I have no idea how the gameplay will be like, but I enjoyed the first season of the show a lot, so I'm looking foward to it.

Damn Telltale games is just churning out the games now

It would be awesome if they made something with one of these franchises:
Wizard of OZ
Gone with the Wind
Evil Dead
A Clockwork Orange
Persepolis (graphic novel)

Also, the BBC should quit making those terrible Adventure Games and just give the Doctor Who game license to Telltale.

God dammit base it off the comic series so you have more content for the game! Not the TV show.

Better not suck!

Ecstatic about Fables. Let's just hope the games aren't as pathetically easy as the BTTF series.

I liked the first season of The Walking Dead but I wouldn't want to see it in a video game

Another studio that has been blinded by profits. I mean, really? The BTTF Game was good so you decide that from now on you'll make game after game of licensed movies? Bad Idea Telltale, bad idea.

Im looking more towards Fables now than Walking Dead (which is still awesome news).
It could even be an entirely exclusive story too which would be sweet.

Not sure how I feel about this, but I hope Telltale does a good job with it. Will probably purchase the game, as I highly enjoyed the first season.

FABELS!? I am so excited, but if they get far enough into the series would they make it an RTS? Cause they really should.

seems appropriate to make a video game based on a television show that's based on a comic book.

The first season of Walking Dead was a real let down with some horrible performances, dialogue and weird plot points(I'm not against change from the books just against change that skips major plot points). Let's hope the game can come off better.

First season of walking dead was AWFUL. I'm all for having more dialog in my zombie films but then make it good. The black guy from the first episode and the main guy were the only two capable of acting and Jesus were the lines they were given awful.

The makeup was fantastic but any of the cg was dire. Big letdown considering AMC have my two fav shows on.

Wait Fables? The fucking brilliant comic book series where all the old Grimm characters are portrayed as mature and deep? The Comic where Price Charming is a playboy and the Big Bad Wolf marries Snow White? That's the best news I've heard all day.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought that the walking dead show was terrible. Kirkman is such a fantastic writer, I'm not sure why he would let them butcher his story that much.

What? Are any of you familiar with the Walking Dead comic and not the TV show? The ENTIRE charm of the Walking Dead as a comic is that in an entertainment market saturated with generic zombie stories, the Walking Dead managed to make an interesting, deep, emotional human story with zombies as nothing more than set pieces, for the most part. I'm an enormous fan of the comic, but I think just saying, "Oh, it's got zombies, THIRTY MILLION DOLLAR GAME!" is a horrible idea.

Fables would make a sweet game, though.

I am curious as to how they will handle the Fables world. Could go a lot of different ways with it. An RPG would be lovely. Lotta material to pull from there.

Yes. Base it off the comics fer serious. Which they probably will since the show will move slower than the game development. Which just sounds bananas.

Seeing as how both comics are mature, I don't know how this will play out. TT haven't done any 3D games in a while. I'd need them to be that way to want to play them.

In a way, I'm a little annoyed EA or THQ didn't jump over these first. Then we'd be safe in the knowledge that we'd get really sweeter product. I can't do these games in cheap 2D cheese fests or point and click cheddar. I hope they can prove me wrong.

And for anyone who hasn't checked out Fables comic, you really need to.
