Telltale to release Wallace & Gromit episodic game photo

I adore Wallace & Gromit. Unfortunately, after gallivanting through three incredible shorts and an Academy Award-winning feature film, the wacky inventor and his verbally-challenged dog companion starred in a few subpar videogames. They weren’t necessarily terrible, they just turned out as generic platformers, lacking not even half of the creativity and cleverness of the duo’s on-screen antics.

Luckily, Telltale Games -- the makers of the recent, critically acclaimed Sam & Max games -- are creating an episodic series based on Aardman Animation’s revered films entitled Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures.

Not much is known about what genre Grand Adventures will fall into (here’s hoping adventure game!), but Telltale promises “it will be more true to the franchise than previous games.” In addition, according to Telltale CEO Dan Connors, the game will most likely retain the look of the claymation characters, including such small details as fingerprints on the main characters. If the below early screenshot is any indication, things seem to heading in the right direction.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Wallace & Gromit? If so, are you excited to see a game coming out that may do the brilliant film series justice? Do you agree that the toy train chase scene at the end of Wrong Trousers is one of the greatest action sequences in movie history?

I want 3 things from this game. To be able to pull the lever that yanks Wallace out of bed, to have the trousers in there somewhere and a nice bit of cheese.

I am hating this new trend of "episodic" games... I dont like digital distrabution, I would much rather have these games on a disc, or if I did have to buy it from the store... release it as one WHOLE game...

I think the episodic thing is pretty great actually. If I can get in on WiiWare, and just get the first episode to see if I like it, then I'm happy. Although, if Ninty doesn't give us some kind of storage solution soon, I'm going to boycott wiiware altogether.

Words cannot describe how happy this makes me. The models look too smooth at this point, but I'm hoping that's just because they're super early in development. Otherwise, this is going to be amazing.

As long as its better then the Wallace and Gromit in Project Zoo. I tried to like that game. I REALLY tried to like that game, but it really was nothing more then a generic platformer where you could have shoehorned any characters in there and it would work.

I loved the shorts as well as the movie. I hope they incorporate the wrong trousers and have you battle that little son of a bitch penguin. That would be awesome. GO CLAYMATION!

Wallace and Gromit FTW. From the moment Gromit ended up spinning around with a power-drill, they've held a piece of my heart.
