The PSPgo has been dumped on by retailers, ignored by a number of publishers, and has been undermined by buck-passing and shoulder-shrugging ever since it launched. Fortunately for Sony's latest handheld, however, there are at least some people that like it, with Telltale Games in particular thinking it's a huge step forward.
"I think kudos to Sony for continuing to push the envelope," stated Telltale CEO Dan Connors. "You look at the number of games that are selling on the iPhone and it's a pretty safe idea for them. I'm very impressed with the step that they're taking and as we continue to move towards handhelds, it's certainly going to be part of our plan."
The idea of the PSPgo is great, sure, but Sony's implementation of that idea has been abysmal. High prices, less features, outdated wireless and total lack of incentive for previous PSP owners to upgrade is not how you usher in a new age of digital distribution. Quite how anyone can be impressed with the PSPgo outside of thinking it looks cool is beyond me.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I'm sure they'll work out the kinks with it
More importantly, that image is NSFW defo. D:< lol
As for working out the kinks, that's going to be an uphill battle and one they cant even begin until they acknowledge just how much they've shit the bed on it. Software is notoriously difficult to 'adjust' without causing hundreds of other little problems in every other section. And if there are hardware issues, then it's game over.
or I'm just trying too hard and in fact its just because Jim loves strippers.
Lastly, I thought you dug the PSPgo Jim? I know you hate Sony's implementation but the PSP itself you said you were a fan of right?
Ouch
so the opinion of a company that has only done downloadable games on a downloadable only system doesn't really matter to me. Of course they love it. Its something else they can port their games to.
I would so buy the PSPGo if it wasn't so much money and I think the fact that I won't have a physical copy of my games bothers me too.
See, this is what we get for complaining. Less flexible strippers, more disturbingly proportioned cats. I think we can all agree it's a bit of a downgrade. Mostly.

heh, cat...
iPhone is popular (as is the marketplace) because it's an ideal convergent device for the douchey sales/project manager on the go. The iTouch is popular because it's a flashy iPod with lots of the same convergent features as its big brother, but is limited to wifi hotspots and mostly used as an MP3 player. In both cases the dev platform itself is open(ish).
The pspGo is clearly aimed at the iTouch (not iPhone) market space, but is missing the refined mp3 experience of the iTouch, the dev platform is locked down, and digital download only experience is half baked at best.
Sony needed to release a product that was a better mp3 player platform than the iTouch to get the iTouch people interested, and THEN try and "win them over" with the idea of downloading 500Mb - 1GB+ size files over 802.11b wifi.
Also, pussy.
Jabba the lolcat thinks still have hidden cheeseburgerz.
Or people who get tired of carrying around a hundred devices. Just sayin'. In fact the iPhone I would argue sucks pretty bad for those guys.
But needing to take it home, connect it to the PS3 or the PC, or use the WiFi which (here in the Uk at least) is fucking useless unless it's your own / works.
