I'm both mad and happy that The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest is aged at a demographic of which I don't belong. I'm upset because for once, we are getting a videogame that has a blue sky, but I am also happy because it doesn't look terribly impressive, even for a game aimed at younger audiences.
Then again, I have a younger sister who recently purchased the Wii game Hotel for Dogs. Clearly, most kids do not care about quality -- but hey, we were the same way back in the day. I remember renting Izzy's Quest for the Olympic Rings, for crying out loud! Anyway, Aragorn's Quest, or as I like to call it, LotR: Babyz, has been upgraded to a spring 2010 release date.
The last Lord of the Rings game I played was The Two Towers on GameCube; I'd like to keep it that way.

"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Um, what? There are other video games that have blue skies. And what's wrong with having a blue sky?
However, the BEST Lord of the Rings game in my book is deffinitely the Super Nintendo one. It's awful in almost every sense, except maybe sound-wise, but there was something wonderful about playing through it with 3 friends. I still don't get why they don't go for an action-RPG with light platforming elements with 4-player, drop-in drop-out multiplayer in mind. This one seems like a step in the right direction. Getting to choose the stage is cool, but the way it was made on the 2 slightly fun EA action games made it feel too arcadey. Besides, it laked any sense of depth. Those experience points weren't fooling anyone.
It may be tough, but finding a balance beetween those several gameplay elements may be the only way I see to make a truly good LotR game, with diversified gameplay fitting an adventure with a plethora of memorable characteristics to it. Make it big, make it true to the originals, make it beautiful make it multiplayer, make it feature several gameplay possibilities ranging from character to character and stage to stage, and then we'll talk. Anything else is an understatement to the series.
Huh?
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
