Tekken 6 goes gold, has a ton of online features photo

Namco Bandai has let us know that the King of the Iron First Tournament is about to begin... again.

Tekken 6 has gone gold, which means it's right on track to make its October 27 release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Outside of what you'd expect from a new Tekken -- updated visuals, a big ol' roster of fighters, etc. -- the game will also has a ton of online features on both consoles.

You've got your usuals "ranked" and "player" matches, as well as leaderboards for everything from versus modes to time attack and survivals modes. The game will also allow you to both upload and download fighter ghost data, so you can either show people how great you are or figure out why you suck.

But what I personally think is the most exciting feature is the inclusion of Tekken 6's "Scenario Campaign" online cooperative mode. (Note: You can also play this offline if you have actual friends.) Available in a post-launch update, this mode will allow you to hop online with a friend and beat up AI-controlled enemies in the game's brawler campaign mode. This is the same mode I played and had the chance to beat up a baby bear cub. Both heart-breaking and totally awesome, that was.

Anyone out there thinking about picking up Tekken 6? I must admit, I'm a bit burned out on the Tekken 6 series, but the idea of a slightly generic 3D brawler using the entire game's roster kind of has my attention. Go figure!

I'll do what I've pretty much always done with the Tekken series, dating back to the first one... wait until it becomes budget priced. I like the series, but just not enough to pay full price for it.

Iv been playing tekken on the PSP for a long time and also been playing Tekken 6 in the local arcades aswell! Im happy its coming to the consoles so I don't have to spend more cash on it haha ($2 a pop). Scenario Campaign looks a lot like 'Tekken Force' mode back on Tekken 3. Iv got my arcdae stick on pre-order Just waiting for my pay check :D

I feel really bad because I was very ready for T6 once it was announced. then crushed to hear it wasn't officially making it to American shores. Because of that, I haven't payed much attention to T6 outside of screenshots and what I read on people who've played it.

still...i'm going to buy it. I just hope I still have some Tekken left in me.

Pre-ordered for PS3. I can't wait. BIG Tekken fan. I've been jonesing for a new one for quite some time now (:

Will this be part of Friday Night Fights? If so, I'm so down.

Aw sweet, I love the series and tekken 3 was my first ever fighter. Since then I brought each subsequent version and seriously digged 5, 4 was a disappointment though.

I'm buying this for the off-line play, I have many a relative and friend who I play on Tekken with.

The last one I played was 4, and that one was ok. I still think 3 is the best.

honestly, from all the trailers it just looks like the same old stuff. I'll probably get it eventually, if only for online.

Now that's kinda crazy man. This game's gonna have the most characters in any mainstream fighting series. This game has more features then SF4, KOF12, MK vs. DC and many other games this gen. Being the first Tekken to have online multiplayer & co-op multiplayer, It's definitely worth the full price.

I really want to buy this game but there's a lot of stuff coming out and I just don't have the money for everything.

Sadly I think Tekken is one of the titles that's gonna have to wait.

Definitely picking up Tekken 6. A little puzzled by the announcement of the scenario campaign not getting online co-op until a "post-launch" update, that could either mean a week after launch or two months after launch...

I love Tekken for it's attention to detail on modeling martial marts moves. I'm guessing the brawler is gonna be similar to that one from Tekken 6, which was entirely too short but still awesome. I'll be getting this, not day 1 probably, but soon enough. I just wish they'd go all out again like they did back with Tekken 3.

Then you'd ADORE Virtua Fighter.

Really? I haven't played Virtua Fighter in a long time, but I remember it used to have this real spacey feeling when you jumped. I'll check it out though.

Ever since Virtua Fighter 4, they've made a point to include real martial arts in them, going so far as to tag each fighter with a specific style on their bio screen.

Tekken sort of does that, but doesn't make as big a show about it. It also has some nonsense characters like Yoshimitsu, Jack, Devil, and Ogre (which are fun, but if you're looking for realism, Virtua Fighter from "4" on is a good series).

After-launch update?

Knowing Namco Bandai, that means about 6 to 9 months after launch.

Still picking it up, though. It's still Tekken.
