Tekken 6 DLC? Maybe, and it'll probably be free photo

A modern-day fighting game without DLC is like a Thanksgiving without indigestion. You just don't see that anymore.

Tekken 6 had DLC...kind of. Cardboard Tube Samurai was cool, but not really what most would expect to see as Tekken DLC. There could be more coming. When asked about the possibility of some hot new DLC, Katsuhiro Harada, Producer, told PlayStation Europe, “There is a strong possibility we will. However, even if we were to do so, it would be free to the end user.”

I like "strong possibility" a lot, and I love "free." Gimme some crazy sh*t, Namco Bandai. Throw in the Prince from Katamari Damacy. I'd love him and KOS-MOS to fight.

Damn, someone needs to let me make a fighting game.

Well free DLC would help ease the burn of the $60+tax that people felt when they bought Tekken 6.

Namco giving DLC for FREE? Parallel universe.

Probably the online co-op for scenario campaign they promised pre-release.

@JQM78: I'd recommend it if you're a pad player or have no other way to play Tekken 6. The overall graphics are on par with Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection but some of the textures are a bit better.

Personally, I'm just using it as practice when I commute but it's more for memorizing combos since I use an arcade stick at home.

@ JQM78: I think Giantbomb has a review for the psp version. I was a huge Tekken fan and I jumped on Tekken 6 on launch and boy was I disappointed. This will probably be the last time I buy a namco-bandai fighting game based on brand name. Honestly stick with Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection if you like Tekken.

Free DLC? Reminds me of the good old days. There were good old days, right?

If you're a hardcore Tekken fan (and by that I mean you love the fighting mechanics and characters and would love to jump back in with a bunch of new characters and a decent amount of new moves for all the new characters) then you'll really like Tekken 6.

If, however, you want to play the game for the single player (Scenario mode is overemphasized and very weak for how much time it takes), you may want to pass on this one.

At the very least, you'll probably want to wait til the end of the week when then online update patch is supposedly coming out. If it ends up being a decent improvement, then there's a lot more to like about the game.

At least they're fixing the god-awful lag problem.

And to be completely honest, I quite like T6.

That's incredibly cool.
Regarding the lag, I think I just got lucky as I have seen very little of it, barring one terrible timed out match.

Free DLC would be cool, especially since SFIV stupidly charged for costumes.

Well if the patch to fix the lag is coming soon, this free dlc is also very good news.

Thanks for the input guys.....I havent ever really played tekken, Im more into boxing (fightnight series) I like to play my psp and ds games in short "bursts" so i figured this would be great if you know what i mean by short bursts (games that are ideal for on the go play, like burnout legends, where you can play it, beat a level quickly and then put it down, especially when hopping the EL train here in chicago) I saw that the last tekken on psp got great ratings, so i figure it would be a solid buy..........still trying to make up my mind.....thanks again, fellas.

As of right now, Tekken is a damn good game if you have people around you (IRL) to play with. It can get really fun if there are 3-4 of you killing eachother and screaming off the top of your lungs. I wouldn't recommend it (as of right now) for the online or only for the single player experience. The endings and prologues are a bit short and bland, but the customization, practice mode, and friends over should keep plenty of people busy.

Friends = Buy
Loner = Rent

thanks again, its good to get input from fellow gamers.....i think alot of reviews focus on a specific audience for certain games.....for example, the original left for dead got great ratings, and it is a great game, for multiple people, however, the single player campaign sucked......reviews should reflect on the "loner" as well as the "multiplayer "player".....I myself am a loner...some fighting games have been fun as single player, like dissidia, i had a good time leveling up my character and playing through single player story mode, will i get an experience remotely close to that in tekken six for my psp?

Free DLC? From Namco? I can hardly believe it, especially after the debacle of Beautiful Katamari.

But I love Tekken, so I'm torn.

Well, I just checked and it looks like the PSP version doesn't even HAVE the Scenario Campaign in it so really the only thing you'd have to do as a loner on the PSP version of T6 is play arcade mode, unlock storylines, and play ghost mode which has you fighting player-ghosts (uploaded player data) to earn money, raise your rank, and buy clothing items.

Note that your rank doesn't actually effect anything, it's just eye candy really. And I don't know if you can get past the rank of 1st Dan without online play (because you can't in the console version, which will hopefully be patched out).

The costumes and such are extensive, but as a loner that's new to the series, I don't know if there's going to be a lot of content for you in the PSP version.

Thanks Dinnertimeninja.....looks like I'm not gonna open it and maybe pick up DR instead for about half the price. I will wait a day or so for a review and then make my final decision, but as it stands right now, it sounds like DR is a better game......

I would wait for the Online fix. Once the online runs nicely Tekken should be back to the top of the competition. Scenario Campaign is forgivable because I can still enjoy the game without it, but bad online is just wrong. Once that's fixed, even people, who don't have several friends of the fighting genre, can enjoy whooping people's asses online. Add that with Story Mode, customization, Ghost Battle, and Practice you have yourself a stellar title.
