Tecmo has announced that Quantum Theory, once a PlayStation 3 exclusive, is now also coming to the Xbox 360.
I had a chance to play an early build for the PlayStation 3 at Tokyo Game Show earlier in the year, and found that it was a competent -- if not slightly derivative -- third-person shooter that has a heavy Gears of War feel. Quantum Theory does, however, have two things that will set it apart from other similar third-person shooters.
One, parts of the game's environment changes in real-time, altering things like cover and paths for the player. The second is that the game's main character, Syd, teams up with a mysterious female, Filena. In a mechanic that reminded me of the Prince and Elika from 2008's Prince of Persia, I was able to use Filena as a weapon in order to flank or take out enemies. Neat.
Expect Quantum Theory to ship for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in spring of 2010.
the more people that get to play a game the better it is for all of us!
"exclusives are ridiculous anyway...

Oh, and I can just see the Xbot and SONY boys going at it now. I hate humanity...
@mistic
You don't get it. While I don't wish people can't play a game, I also like not having just one console monopolizing the market. Understand the implications of your desires before you speak next time.
That's the sound of hundreds of Sony fanboys disowning this game.
But Gears of War will be better than both!
@Perfidious Sinn
I'm a Sony Fanboy, and this really isn't an issue whatsoever. If it's good, I will happily play it. I sometimes get Gears of War cravings, and not having a 360 kind of impedes that, so I was sort of excited for this, for no other reason than to have something that could maybe mimic the feeling of playing Gears, without dropping another $300 for a box that will play it. I feel the same way about Dantes Inferno, hopefully it will capture enough of the spirit of God of War for people who only have a 360. And if it's not good, no biggie, there's plenty of good stuff to play in 2010 already
Omfg the internet has melted!
But seriously though, it was never supposed to be a exclusive to begin with, so I think it's great they 'share it'.
Although valve is the curious exception to this rule, but I just wrote them off as a glitch in the matrix and called it a day.
Oh wait, that's just the PS3 fanboys when Xbox 360 exclusives jump ship.
Game looks relatively interesting, but does the market really need another third person shooter? Those and open-world games are the FPSes from last generation (read: TOO MANY OF THEM).
But I'm still buying it because I need my Gears fix and I'm not buying another 360.
Guncannon: Tecmo tried but Stephen Hawking is a fucking Quake god and contractually barred from appearing in other games.
No game has nailed the third person shooting mechaninc as well as Gears. FACT. I wish more game would though, so I await with abated breath.
Thank you for being a reasonable fanboy. The kind that doesn't give the impression of sucking a company's penis with the desperation of a starving infant on its mother's teat. Favoring one console over another on is completely cool, but a lot of these folks act like they would GAIN something if the other console(s) failed, and that's retarded.
I hope this game turns out well for everyone, I haven't played a third person shooter since The Bourne Identity (which was average at best). There aren't a lot of stellar ones on the market, and I generally prefer third person to first.
You don't have to call yourself a fanboy because you like Sony. As far as I can tell, fanboys need to be irrationally devoted to their system. It's entirely possible for a person to prefer one of two different systems without having to call themselves a fanboy.
Also that screenshot with the blood is hot. Haven't seen blood like that since Gears.
Yet, if this was even the smallest, most unknown 360 exclusive going multiplat, everyone would be going nuts and talking shit.
1. First read WhiteZombie's comment.
2. Then read Shadowiii and Perfidious Sinn comprehensive comments.
3. Read the enraged irrational comments from TheRico and Nitex.
You can clearly point out who talks crap here. I suggest those who bait, bait correctly, ---> Ganjookie comment.
Will go down well with the 360 crowd then.
Will go down well with the 360 crowd then.
Absolutely. As I said before, if any game can replicate the feel of Gears, and not just on a visual level, but terms of getting those 3rd person shooting mechanics as tight and effective, then I'm interested. Sadly, no game has come close to that, and I very much doubt this game will either, which is a shame, but I will very much be keeping an eye on this game.
