Tecmo Koei America -- a publisher whose name is surprisingly not hard to say three times real fa
st -- is indeed set to revive the Tecmo Bowl franchise. Earlier this afternoon, the publisher announced Tecmo Bowl Throwback, an Xbox LIVE Arcade and PSN downloadable that is said to "maintain" the SNES game's classic feel while also modernizing the franchise -- yeah, we're confused about that line, too.
According to the official release, the remake will have: (a) all 32 teams (b) multiplayer and (c) will also feature 3D visuals that users can toggle on and off if they are so inclined. No word if Tecmo plans to finally patch in cement shoes for Barry Sanders, but the game wouldn't really be the game from our youth if they did, right?

In any case, FUUUUUUUCK YES. Tecmo Super Bowl is my favourite football game of all time. I mean, I'm not a football fan, so that might be why, but still...this is fucking awesome news and I can't wait.
