Teaser Web site for RAGE appears photo

RAGE, id Software's upcoming mix of first-person shooting and racing isn't expected to be out until the second quarter of 2010. That's not stopping publisher EA from trying to get a little bit more interest generated for the title early on. Today, they unveiled a teaser site to help familiarize players with the world they'll be exploring next year.

On the site, you'll be able to follow a lone survivor as he explores the game's world. Right now, there's just one image with a few things to interact with, including a wrecked plane, a skull which looks like it belonged to a mutated human and a radio tower. In addition, you can hear some of the thoughts of the survivor which mention the word "Apophis", which also happens to be the Greek name for the Egyptian God of darkness and chaos. Spooky.

The site will be updating every two days, expanding the world and adding new things for people to interact with. How long this will go on is unknown, but an indicator at the bottom of the screen suggests that -- from the perspective of the character, at least -- five weeks are going to pass.

Anybody intrigued by this?

Oh ya, Ever since E3 08? when they first showed off that amazing bit of tech with the bump mapping i've kept a watchful ear. I thought every game should be using their tech by now. Somehow they can apply amazing graphical art & keep the game at an awesome frame rate.

I'm definitely excited.

No more post-apocalyptic settings please. Kind of getting stale.

What are you talking about? post-apocalyptic settings are the best setting you can get! What do you want, maybe a ww2 setting?

I would like to see a game exactly like fuel with guns, the abbility to get of off your ride, action and rpg elements. Racing trough a abandoned world, somtimes chased by biker gangs like in mad max(road warrior), discovering camps of survivors, plundering old wreckages for food and fuel. That would be nice. Mad max 2 the game.

@AMARU: Why? The game is running on consoles, a 8800GT will be more than enough to play it on PC.

Because optimising a game for several pcs/graphics/systems is harder than for one console setting! On Pc there will allways be issues with some systems, on consoles there is only one sytem/setting to focus on during development.

@Sir playedallot: That's not the question though. I have a 8800GT and it runs every multiplatform game released so far, so I see no reason why it won't run this one. Heck it even runs Crysis at high settings.
