I'm not sure what is going on with all of the posturing as of late, but it seems that everyone at Team Ninja are way too eager to convince us that they are the Alpha and the Omega of videogames. We saw this the other day in Itagaki's interview with Game Informer, and now we have the following quote from the director/producer, Yosuke Hayashi to add to the sound bytes:
"It is Team Ninja's policy to push a console to its limit and set high standards. Team Ninja wanted to make Ninja Gaiden Sigma the best action game it could be, and push gaming standards to its upper limit. That is why we chose to make the game for PS3. I have heard much criticism of the PS3, but I am confident that Ninja Gaiden Sigma will demonstrate how powerful the PS3 really is."
Now I'll be the first to tip my hat in Team Ninja's direction for the beauty that is Ninja Gaiden, but come on -- how about a little humility. You are starting to sound like Team Arrogant, which is really throwing a pipe wrench in my whole antiquated view of the Japanese developer who is humble, yet proud of their work.
Yes, the PlayStation 3 is a beast -- we understand that. However, is a remake of a remake with a fresh coat of paint going to be the one game that shows the Xbox 360 and Wii guys what they've been missing out on by ignoring the PS3 since its launch? It's possible, but highly doubtful.
Then again, I could have this all wrong. Ninja Gaiden Sigma might just cause PS3 owners to scramble for a governor to prevent their consoles from redlining and giving up the ghost. We'll just have to wait this one out and see what the future holds. In the interim, I'd like to see Team Ninja buddy up with Miyamoto, and see if his personality can rub off on them a bit. They already seem to have the talent part under control.

maybe the ps3 won't suck as bad when sigma comes out :D
Ninja Gaiden wasn't do-able on PS2 so bring it to Xbox. But Asians hate Xbox. So lets redo the redo on PS3.
This is J-Love. Whether it sells in America isn't much of a concern.
Itagaki, on the other hand is the most arrogant person I can think of in the game industry. Though, I'm biased, ever since he said that Tekken's fighting system is prehistoric compared to DOA 3's.
Ninja Gaiden on the XBox is pretty much the only decent game they've made in a while, but I really wasn't a huge fan of it either.
Of course, this is my own opinion, but still they haven't put on much more than mediocre "pretty" as far as I'm concerned.
You cant tell shit from screen shots, once you have actually played the game on both systems come back and tell me it "didn't look any better"
As for Team Ninja being arrogant who gives a fuck... I guess only a few of the destructoid tools that constantly nitpick and poke at the PS3 because deep down it makes their lives just a little better, but not really.
This is about being boastful, and making grand claims. Did I not give the PS3 props for being a beast? I'm afraid to say more, lest my 360 get jealous, and quit on me.
make a option of 18 player vs free for all, and have a grandiose all out shogunate Online style fight!
fuk yea, that would pump up my Jew-Jitsu!
Thats right... be afraid.
I think that applies here.
Saying the PS3 is a "beast" isn't really giving it props is it?
That's how I understood the comment: That they're pushing the PS3's graphics processing to the limit.
at least photoshop his face??
i'm trying to eat here!
In my neck of the woods, calling something a beast means it is uber powerful. Perhaps it's a localized term?
Is this game going to sell PS3's?
No. Probably not. If Itagaki tries to bring Ninja Gaiden Black to the 360, I vote we boycott that shit. I want a new fucking game! We've seen so many different versions of this game it kind of makes me want to puke. (Almost as much as Kojima and his makes and remakes and reremakes.) As soon as Hollywood starts getting past sequels, gaming enters a whole new era of sequels. Unfortunately,
Itagaki's not in it.
And I think that making fun of him because of the way his face look is lame. Hope nothing bad ever happens to you or your loved ones ;)
YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
Seriously, has anyone ever seen a picture of Itagaki where he's not slouching over a chair?
Does he not know how to sit?
Enter Ninja Gaiden Sigma. It is the exact same game we've had for five years but with better graphics (and a few extras).
Ninja Gaiden Sigma represents the exact opposite of what the Wii represents from a "game philosophy" stand point.
To a lesser degree, I think 360 owners feel the same way. They don't care enough about graphics to prefer the PS3 over the 360. They just want new games, and the 360 has them. Ninja Gaiden Sigma is not really a new game, so who cares?
Sorry Natedrizzle for being so negative. But you know, a discussion needs two sides or it's not a discussion, it's just a bunch of guys going "WOOT!". That's fun for a couple of woots, but gets old sorta fast, no?
But I agree, the game will be atop seller for the Japanese PS3. I doubt it will move systems though.
Oh my God! You proved me...well, about the same really. It barely looks any better than the XBox version to me still. A little sharper, some slight redesigns in the level, etc. Wow. It's nothing special. It's probably going to be sold for full price too and that's definitely not worth it for something people have already played for the past five years.
When you do a remake, especially a remake of a remake, it should be significantly improved to warrant much attention. Unless of course you've never played the other versions before. Think of Resident Evil to Resident Evil Remake, or Tomb Raider to Tomb Raider Anniversary. That sort of improvement should be made before trying to pawn the same thing off on fans.
By the way, you said I was an idiot for making the two previous comments. I already handled the first one, but second one how what that idiotic? DoA being mediocre franchise is an idiotic comment? It's pretty widely thought of as a mediocre franchise by many people who play their games for more than T&A, so you're basically calling people with that same opinion idiots. You're probably out numbered in that area, I doubt many people other than Itagaki himself think it's a great fighting series and the volley ball side games are just a joke.
Also DOA is the suckness.
he has to sit that way because his big bouncy 1080p
breasts hurt his back
Actually, I prefer the DOA series because it sees fighting games for what they should be. It's way more fun to play with other people that may not be as good, because it's not necessary to learn a gazillion button combo to be able to beat a better player, like in Tekken or MK.
I own DoA Ultimate and MK: Deception, and I like both games, but guess which game I bust out when the friends come over?
Seriously, if I'm going to spend hour upon hour with a game, it's not going to be learning fifty million complex combos, it's going to be a game worth all that time.
The DoA series is awesome because it's what a fighting game should be: pretty, fluid, fast, and easy to pick up and play.
As for DoA Xtreme Volleyball... Well. Yeah, I can't really defend that, and I wouldn't try, but I've never played it.
As far as Sigma is concerned, as someone that has played Black on the xbox, I don't see enough difference to warrant $60, let alone the price of the PS3 if you don't own one. This is definitely meant for the Japanese market. Nothing wrong with that.
I sound like a fanboy of what, exactly? I haven't professed any kind of undying love for the XBox, nor have I damned the PS3. This game, just as some_dude said, is not enough of an improvement to warrant much attention or even another purchase by those who've played it.
As far as DoA goes, well, the fanboy comment can't apply here either. I didn't bring up any other fight game series to compare it to, I just called it mediocre. Which it is really. I like Mortal Kombat too, but Deception was a, actually all 3D iterations thus far were, mediocre as well. So putting the two of them next to each other doesn't help.
