The best thing about Ninja Gaiden III for me was the DoA 5 premium demo. I got bored with the title after completing it on hard, then went through all the spam that was the Ultimate difficulty. Multiplayer was really poorly implemented.
Good luck to Team Ninja, I'll stay away.
Especially with the DLC fleecing.
That said, they've clearly seen the error of their ways. Hayashi has been pushing this casualization angle since the first Sigma came out. He now sees how bad of an idea it is. I'm totally willing to give him one more chance with Ninja Gaiden 4 to make it right, because I want to see the series live on.
I just don't think they can repair Ninja Gaiden 3. Chris nails it I think.
And it's not like the game is truly devoid of any interesting content. There's one or two neat bosses, the graphics are generally interesting, and the moves are visceral and bloody. It's just that the entire game is busted. The enemies, the ninpo, the weapons, the difficulty and AI, the level design, the shuriken climbing sections, the boring stealth sections, the horrid multi-player, and on and on. Even the controls are more sluggish and unresponsive than the series is known for. There's not even menus in the game. The command list for the sword is nearly impossible to read.
there were alot of frame rate issues especially on PS3.
for some reason the lag here is very noticeable compared to Sigma 2.
Sigma 2 had little Lag but not this bad.
sometimes when i attack Ryu attacks a different enemy instead of the enemy im aiming at.
also auto kill enemies where if an enemy is in it's last knees ryu will perform a signature attack.
sure it look cool, but you can do combo's since he just keep repeating those attacks everytime. especially if there's a hordes of enemies and one of them is on last health.
it ruins your combo, and it feels a little cheap to be honest(though i had used this towards my advantage if im low health)
pacing is very weird, i don't know for some reason it get's boring after awhile.
the good thing is that i actually like the graphics here and the artsyle. and the cinematic is sooo freaking good. though i do not like the QTE. what the hell were they thinking.
i also don't like that one section in the game were Ryu keeps running away from the enemies to regroup.
this is FUCKING Ryu Hayabusa!!!!!! he never EVER run away in a fight.
just look at NGI-II
despite all of the odds Ryu is still moving forward and fears no one,
still would love to see Itagaki's version. god damn you Tecmo. if only the former president didn't died :\
i would not be surprised if they announced Dead or Alive 5 Hardcore Edition
with Momiji, Rachael, Ein, Leon, as well as Samus and her stage(ridley's volcano like in DOA Dimensions???)
That and the horrible QTE climbing that plagued practically every wall in the game.
I swear, Hayashi likes to destroy what fans like about TN games because of his damned obsession to make games "elegant" or whatever the hell was the word he used for NGS2.
NG3 throws that all way, it isn't so much, its how insulting the game feels to the very audience they seem to want, a don't get lost button in a linear game? Really?
And what does this mean, what hardcore elements, they have no fucking idea what makes NG good or difficult, difficult for Hayashi means enemies with a bajillion invul frames and constantly getting one shoted.
You really buy those statements? That's nothing more than a marketing ploy by Team Ninja and Nintendo to attract the hardcore audience for the game on Wii U.
You don't find it a tad suspect how Razor's Edge was announced alongside the PS360 versions (much less that it would contain exclusive content)? Not to mention how NG3:RE's exclusive features were debuted not even three months after NG3 launched (E3 2012)?
I'm willing to bet that Razor's Edge's feature were originally planned for NG3 but omitted at the last minute for marketing purposes on Wii U (i.e. RE4 GC content cut for PS2).
Razor's Edge isn't Team Ninja correcting their wrongs, but rather a way for them to cash in and turn heads with NG3 owners in the process.
Team Ninja wants to have their cake and eat it too.
