looks as mature as the gratuitous peta attack crap
Yeah, this is a total case of "he said/she said" but I'm siding more with Zen Studios, because other companies (including Twisted Pixel) have spoken out on how cool MS treated them. Granted, TP has most of their work on XBLA, but Zen is a third party, so it's interesting to see some comments from a dev who worked with both companies.
Ima go read those tweets. Then I'll come back with opinions. Until then, please label me as a 360 fanboy, call me 40 (jimmyx called me 40!) and watnot.
WHOA! You zinged them! It's bad enough to deal with the immaturity of some gaming enthusiasts. We don't need that from professional developers. Seriously, Team Meat, you come off about as mature as EA right now.
I believe Team Meat. It's two (basically one) guys and they really have no reason to lie. They also make great games, and that's all that really matters.
Fuck this mudslinging crap from a company who re-skins pinball 30 times and acts like it's top dog.
ZS: wait, we were cool with MS, the fuck is up your ass?
TM: FUCK YOU GUYS, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT WE WENT THROUGH.
ZS:dude, MSStudios was cool with us.
TM: NOT THEM, STUPID! MS IN GENERAL!
ZS: oh, sorry. Misunderstanding.
TM:no prob. Hey, can we get a pinball fx map?
ZS:...I don't see why not?!
TM: YEEEESSS! FEEEST BAAAAMPU!
ZS: FIIIIIST PUUUUUUMP!
TM & ZS: FIST PUMP! Let's do it!
If it was staged I think they would have chosen better words.
I could be wrong though. Team Meat often tries to be edgey and cool. I love their game, but every interview I see of the creators they act like high school students.
One of those times where you have to separate the games from the game makers.
your 12. does that make you feel better?
I'm actually with Jim on this one. I've heard similar stories of developers having issues with Microsoft (especially along the XBLIG scene). And there was that whole bit recently about not wanting games that didn't come to 360 first.
Maybe its just a game of playing favorites from ol MS. From my experience (almost did black box testing for MS) they were a dick to deal with but people still do so who knows?
Props Jim on the article (see? I don't complain about everything you do ;P)
They pump out poor licensed games, and then made that smarmy comment about being the top seller, when it wasn't really needed. It really turned me off.
That's pretty insulting, no?
Actually, speaking of Sony, what was the shot at PSN all about? How did that have to do with anything Team Meat said, considering their game isn't even on PSN? All that did was make the guy at Zen sound like a Microsoft fanboy.
Neither studio came out of this looking particularly wonderful. Some people shouldn't be allowed on Twitter.
As cliche as it is two wrongs don't make a right.
But furiously typing angry tweets at another company does make entertainment.
Additionally, in a condescending manner, told Team Meat to "make a good game and the sales will come", and said they called Team Meat out specifically because they wanted to make a point.
Team Meat simply asked: "why didn't you just talk about your success instead of calling us out?"
Seems perfectly reasonable on Team Meat's end. This bullshit reminds me of when Rovio called out console developers because they had one hit game. It's arrogant.
Adults can act like schoolchildren, even those that make videogames.
Moral of the story?
Act your age.
Holy shit. I wasn't even wearing a helmet, so you just blew my mind all over the wall. :O This does seem very.... coincidental.
"our experience was fully documented in Indie Game: The Movie, if you want the inside scoop check it out when it launches."
Classy. I'm all for fair treatment but this whole situation makes Team Meat look like a couple of whiney dicks.
BITCH MOVE!
Sorry they couldn't hype your pinball game after a massive hacking attack that completely disabled their online for over a month.
I don't know what else Microsoft could have done, its a 3rd party title after all. Logic states that the service is first, followed by first party titles. I mean look at any of those shoot em ups that have been localized and put on XBLA. No promotion at all, just put on there. No dashboard adds nothing.
Plus Team Meat were also generating hype for the game beforehand. Sure it may not have been big like the Publishers in regards to ads, but they had generated quite a bit of word of mouth plus they were Media Darlings so the websites constantly promoted them.
Sure they might have been treated like shit, but their title got much more attention in regards to knowledge and media spread than hardly any other XBLA title at the time.
