Boooooosh.
Oh, and in b4 M$.
I listened to the whole podcast. I guess that doesn't bring headlines though.
What, is there some kind of an issue with Sony and this game? I assumed it was just some kind of exclusivity thing with Microsoft. Do tell?
X-D
Speaking of which, what about that Wii version? Last time I've heard of it, there was a possibility of it being released as a budget disc release..
Oh come on, guys. That "initial launch" included a $5 discount, something MS did especially for Team Meat. Oh, and let's not forget that Sony turned them down outright and a Wiiware port was deemed nigh impossible due to tech limitations.
These guys really seem determined to only focus on the negatives. Maybe Bill Gates fucked one of their moms?
It's their damn game. They should be able to choose (or at least have a say in) pricing and sales. Every developer and game is different and often needs different pricing schemes (and changes in pricing) to succeed.
As for the exclusivity thing they mention, I don't see the issue here. IF Microsoft is going to sign on as the publisher, of course they want exclusivity. They're not going to want to publish something that's also available on the competitor's platform.
I guarantee that if they went to Sony looking for a publishing deal, Sony would want the same thing. Platform holders aren't going to publish something that's also coming to their competitor's platform the same day.
I honestly think the problem is in both directions with this situation. Microsoft probably did some things that they shouldn't have but I also think Team Meat needs to get some more realistic expectations of what they're going to get when dealing with a console manufacturer.
Not to mention that they act like immature children. Saying fuck every other word isn't edgy, funny or independent. Its annoying. But they've made on great game so far so I will buy the next.
Yeah their next game will probably be on Steam too, but didn't they already confirm, that they're working on the Wii U for their next game? Super Meat Boy was suppose to be a WiiWare game, right from the start, but since they went multiplatform with XBLA, it became too big for WiiWare. Thus why they made the decision to cancel the WiiWare version, to go with XBLA instead. Which sound like they're regretting that move now, since they say they'll never work with Microsoft again. Makes you wonder how things might of went, if they never moved it to XBLA, but I guess we'll never know how things would of turned out otherwise!
That said, Steam 4 Life.
Thank you for that. And that's genuinely disappointing. I've always been a major proponent of Sony's track record with indie devs, but yeah, this is a pretty indefensible misstep. Hate to hear it.
I am sick of these indie devs who make one popular game and all of a sudden think they can run the gaming industry. Same thing happened with the guy who made Angry birds. All these entitled pricks can move along. I hope their next games crash.
Even Steam continues to work with M$ even though it's a trainwreck.
They seemed to expect a lot of special attention for an unknown studio making their first game.
