Continuing its slow and relaxed unveiling of the Team Fortress 2 War update, Valve is finally giving away the really juicy stuff. Two of the Demoman's unlocks have shown themselves -- a haunted sword and a shield designed with charging in mind -- much to our delight.
Since it is indeed haunted, the Eyelander has a sort of vampire effect going for it. It lowers your maximum health from the get-go, while each successful decapitation pleases the spirit, resulting in a boost in max health and speed.
Simply equipping the Chargin' Targe nets you tempting defensive bonuses, and the shield can also be used to launch yourself forward for devastating results. Of course, this comes at a price -- this item replaces the sticky bomb launcher, sadly.
There's even a great new comic about the Demoman and his dear old mum. Also: the Demos are still behind the Soldiers in kills; this is unacceptable! Oh, and item creation through crafting has been revealed on top of more saucy Saxton Hale action. You probably already knew about that last part, though.
Unless of course this is your only source for gaming news, in which case, we are obligated to love you. And mean it, too.

When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. New weapons and crafting system are awesome too.
(How did I get Devin from Tavish?)
The main complaint is: "How does this fit the Demoman's role?"
For one, his Defense title now comes into play because his biggest weakness, close combat is being covered with the shield as well. Does it even matter how it does?
I love Valve's philosophy of having an entirely new class within a class. I wanna see the weapons in action and I wonder if it'll have a cooldown like the Charger in L4D2.
-He's resistant to FIRE and EXPLOSIONS by 50% and 65%
-Less health If he didn't kill anyone
This is borderline Pyro territory because he has to get close to you first. And if anything, the Charge N Targe would be a straight charge and not a maneuverable one. But again, people will complain before even seeing it.
I'm pretty sure the blade was inspired by Skurai from Ragnarok.
I look forward to many awesome axe on sword duels to come.
Nonetheless, I look forward to seeing many many epic sword clahes.
