Team Fortress 2 Scout update landing next week photo

The next class update for Team Fortress 2 is set to come out on Tuesday, February 24, Valve revealed earlier today. Unfortunately, we're going to have to wait a few days to find out everything the Scout update entails, but for now we know about the first upgrade, The Sandman.

As was the case for the other TF2 classes, there's a dedicated page for the Scout. Each day on the site, another part of the update will be unveiled; today, we're getting a look at The Sandman, a collectible bat that can launch baseballs at its foes.

Getting hit by one of the Scout's baseballs will stun you, even if you're invulnerable. The longer the distance the ball travels to crush your noggin, the longer you remain unable to move. The downside? The bat prevents Scouts from double jumping.

So far, so good, I'd say. I'm anxious to see what else the update will include.

Pretty cool, but no double jump is killer. Still, having one of these and an airblast pyro should be able to shut down ubers totally, clever clever Valve.

Well this is valve so I'm pretty sure they will have the length of a stun pretty fine tuned for balance, still going to have to see how it plays out though.

It's times like this when I lament not having a computer powerful enough to run this game at decent levels.

Excuse me, I have to go spend the next several days writing "Valve loves the PS3" with lots of colorful hearts in my diary.

Great stuff! Too bad I love double jumping so much I will probably never use it...

Here is hoping they manage to put the Scout pack into the big update for the 360 version of the game that seems locked in perpetual development.

Oh wow, I'll have to see this in action before I make any judgements, it sure sounds annoying though.

It's weird. All of these updates are so cool, but with each one, I feel less and less like buying TF2 for the PC. It's just more shit I have to unlock.

each other class update makes the medic update so lackluster its nuts. for every gun medic gets EVERYONE useses the new weps save for the crit one ALL the time. and they arn't that diverse like scout or heavy. oh well, just wish medic wasnt' the first class now.

No double jump wont be too bad, for some maps that is.

This 360 needs to come out already. It really is depressing watching PC players get all this awesome stuff while we have to wait (c'mon Valve, quit being so stingy and make it happen already!).

I can't wait to get a notebook already.

Time to dust off the ol' Steam account. :) Valve really knows how to bring you back to their games.

This will create comedy. As you well know, if you play a game for a long time, you develop reflexes. Without thinking, you push the right buttons, make the right moves, know what paths to take on a level, and so on. Adjust any of that, and you start to mess up.

Now then, many scout players use the double jump on reflex. In less then a second they know what gaps they can cover and what ledges they can reach. Take that away, and it's going to take a while for them to get used to that. I'm sure you can see what happens next.
