Team Fortress 2: Meet the Sandvich

     AMAZING

This video has moved! Try our Destructoid HD Youtube channel

Adding to the Heavy update goodness, we have got another brilliant video from Valve. This time around, it's "Meet the Sandvich."

The Sandvich is the first unlockable for the Heavy included in today's update. Each Sandvich you eat heals you by 120 health, and your supply is unlimited. However, the Heavy will be prone to attacks during the four seconds it takes to eat a Sandvich and you cannot bring along your shotgun if you opt to pack the nutritious sack lunch.

To recap this massive Team Fortress 2 update (which is now live), there's the Killing Gloves of Boxing, 35 new achievements, an unlockable gun named Natascha, the shiny new map Badwater Basin, and lastly, TF2 Arena.

It's a shame more developers don't dish out free, game-changing updates on a regular basis, but hey, not everyone can be Valve or Criterion Games.

[Thanks, MATTFOO and KamikazeTutor!]

I don't see any of these extra unlockables/achievements because of Micro$oft's ludicrous rules regarding achievements (limit of 99 for a game, for example) and that they don't like putting free DLC on Live and Valve doesn't want to charge for their updates/DLC. So my suggestion is to get the PC version of any Valve game to reap all the new content benefits. An earlier Dtoid article read that it'll be the same with Left 4 Dead when it's released

Valve has hinted that they will eventually bring it over to the consoles, but they've never given any indication of a timetable.

TF2 is the funniest, most abundantly supported, most creative, most visually pleasing, and has the best multiplayer experience of any game EVER...

Valve knows how its done.

Yeah, definitely get the PC version, if you can run it. Even if support comes to consoles, Valve will always be a PC-first company. Plus, the PC is guaranteed to be free, all around.

My guess is that, if valve is made to offer the updates as dlc for a price, then they'll release it once all the class updates are done (or as most as they can) and then release the dlc and maybe an orangebox platinum edition or something similar.

I love Valve
Even when they have other shit to do, such as Left 4 Dead, they're not going to let their current customers down
EA really did make a good choice buying them

I'm actually starting to like EA at the minute (They DID have the best press conference at E3 after all)

They didn't buy Valve.
They made a contractual agreement to distribute their physical releases. At this point, I don't think there is a single publisher out there that wouldn't buy Valve in a heartbeat, but with the way Steam is going, Valve won't be put up for sale - they're probably gonna be the buyers.

I won't debate that. I just prefer the mechanics of a console. Valve's support definitely makes the PC version tastier.
