This week's Halo 4 matchmaking update will include the long-awaited Team Doubles playlist, 343 Industries revealed on Halo Waypoint, and with it, three match variants.

First up, Infinity Doubles offers up the standard Infinity Slayer experience, where custom loadouts, instant respawn and radar are enabled. Ordinances have been altered for the playlist, with personal assistance kicking in at the 70 point mark. Doubles Pro contains preset weapon loadouts and omits radar, personal ordinances and instant respawn. Lastly, CTF Doubles includes custom loadouts and radar, a 10 second respawn timer, 5 flags to win, 3 second return, and a 15 second reset timer. Your team's flag also doesn't need to be home in order to score.

The map pool is still being finalized, and will be updated on a constant basis, though so far slightly altered versions of Haven, Abandon and Solace will be included, along with several of the best community Forge maps.

Spartan Ops continues today with Episode 8, and the standard Capture the Flag playlist will also see some changes.

The real life version of the Halo sword kind of sucks

Master arms maker Man at Arms is back, this time taking on the Halo Elite energy sword. The concept looks cool in the game, but it kind of sucks in real life as it's not really practical. Look at how floppy it is! It will still cut a fool, you just got to wiggle it around a little to really get in deep. It'll look cool mounted on a wall or something at least. more
