Tatsunoko vs. Capcom officially confirmed, officially photo

This weekend, we ran a rumor that Tatsunoko vs. Capcom (the game that we all knew was coming to the US) might actually come to the US. Today, Capcom has confirmed via its Twitter account that the gossip has been made flesh, with the announcement due to be made at E3.

Capcom has stated that the "cat is out of the bag," confirming the Nintendo Power scan that has been floating around online and stating that TvC was Capcom's Mystery Game #1. Not so much a mystery now, but I think it would be nice for everyone at E3 to pretend it's a brand-new announcement when they mention it. I think Capcom deserves a little patronization after all the good it's done for us.

Capcom Unity hasn't shut up about TvC for weeks, so the announcement has always been a case of "when" and not "if." Now fans can beat themselves off into a frothy frenzy in rampant celebration of the news. Hopefully you'll be able to indulge in your anime-flavored violence this year, although we'll have to wait and see what the official release date is.

How much you want to bet that the very people who cried about this game originally not coming stateside will ignore it when it's released?

* I played the japanese version. It´s a fun game. The control are simple, but I think simple is good, because I suck in SF4. But the online mode is important in this kind of game.

WTF is wrong with Chun Lee's ass in that picture, it has some sort of bump or spike pertruding from it. O.O

Anyways, they better give us an XBLA/PSN release, I sold my Wii yesterday.

I own the Japanese version, good fun game. I just suck hard, like, cant even pull off my mega attacks on a CC. So i play nunchuck combo, because they did some magic to the button layout, and i can just actually do stuff with it.

But yay for stateside, now it will be interesting to see if it gets a PAL launch.

The more I think about this, the more I want an English version. Especially if they deliver on their vague hints at additional content. Not too worried about online or not, but more characters would be amazing. Gene from Godhand yes please?

@Dexter: Tatsunoko is an old anime production company that's been making stuff since.. Gee, I think the 1970s, right? Anyways, they've been behind hits like neon genesis evangelion, dont bother correcting me if that's spelled wrong 'cause I hate that show anyways.

Yeah. Tatsunoko is one of the big dogs of Japanese production.

Theyve made or assisted in making quite a few shows that even US viewers would recognize, including Gatchaman (G-Force here), NGE, Samurai Pizza Cats, SuperBook, The Flying House, production credits on Macross and Macross DYRL, Tekkaman Blade (Teknoman in the US), Mach Go Go Go (Speed Racer), SoulTaker, etc.

I guess this could be fun on the classic controller since the game only has like what, 3 or 4 attack buttons?

I should buy a Wii sometime soon. With everything that I've heard about this game, it wouldn't be a bad idea. I still think it's kinda weird that Capcom is releasing this in the U.S., considering there probably aren't many Tatsunoko fans out here. However, I dig that Capcom cares more about pleasing their fans instead of making money (Let's be honest - They aren't going to make shit releasing it here).

agrees with Raggy Mop.

Capcom is one of the few companies that I actually trust will give us PALers some acknowledgement and give us the same product on the same date as the rest of the world - or in this case the US - gets, but you can never be too sure.

I kinda wish this would've been saved for E3, though. I would've been fucking blown out of my fucking chair out of excitement as that would've been one of those "OH MAH FUCKEN GAWD" announcements for me. here's hoping that there's at least one more of those... don't let me down now, Nintendo. :/

It's a Wii exclusive. So it was in Japan, so it will be in the west. Why is it a stupid thing for a good game to be an exclusive to the best selling console of this generation?

Capcom just earned a lifetime supply of goodwill for this, I don't even want to know how many licence holders they had to satisfy to get this released.

GeekVariety: Too bad, it's built using the Wii's hardware specifically; even the arcade machines were running on modified Wii's. There's no way this is going anywhere else, especially given the cost it would take to port it.

Just buy a freaking Wii.

I'm glad this is being released domestically and will but this day one. It's unfortunate that the Wii does not have an infrastructure capable of handling online play as this game would greatly benefit from it. It's a good fun game and worth the $50 or so to own. I would like to see some new content but not having to guess at menus will be reward enough.

Just imported it about two weeks ago. Love it, very satisfying. Not too many fighters on the roster, but the gameplay is unique as it only uses 4 buttons. I can pull off 60+ hit combos now, trying to work on 100 and get a Tatsunical combo. Got two Hori arcade sticks and I am having a blast playing with my friends. This game is the reason I took the Wii out from the basement after collecting dust for literally a year. That and Oboro Muramasa Youtouden. If you have a Wii, definitely get this game.

An arcade near me has this and after spending awhile playing it I realize how much the "vs" series I didn't like. So much of the same pop air combo, so little strategy.

Don't hold your breath if you are expecting it as an XBLA game, The assets are already done for SD so textures would kinda look like crap on HD and as an SD game is about 2.5GB. Also it's a 50 bucks NEW game, not an old emulated arcade release, so the price wouldn't be that cheap... I don't think it's an smart business decition to spend the money to remake a niche game like this for HD consoles when this kind of game will most certanly NOT SELL well in ANY console since most people wouldn't know more than half the characters.

I'm not sure what am i gonna do with my Japanesse copy... i think that whenever they announce the street day of the localized version i'll have to sell this one...

*yawn* I modded my Wii specifically to import this game. It's great to play with some friends, but I've unlocked everything in it so long ago it's doing what the rest of my Wii games do... collect dust.

Cool that it's coming here, though... but meh.

This game is alright. I was dissapointed by the character line up because there's only like 8 capcom charaters plus 2 unlockables and there's about 8 tatsunoko characters plus 2 unlockables...I'm so used to seeing mass amounts of characters like in MvC2.

Also they used a lame version of Mega Man...

Awesome game, I already imported it a couple months back. Too simple and noob-friendly, but not a bad game. Far better balance than MvC2, for sure. Magneto, Storm, and Sentinel mostly ruined that game for me.

Anyways, I don't expect a big, successful release of this, but there's enough support for a new capcom crossover that we'll see some decent popularity. Notoriety, at least, considering they have a couple characters who are bigger than all the normal-sized characters combined.
