Lots of people around the Destructoid offices were very excited to hear about a North American release of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. But what about fighting game fans who don't own a Wii, preferring to play their games on a PS3 or Xbox 360? Well, you're probably out of luck.
At least for now. When asked by Videogamer.com whether we could expect the crossover conflict to be released on other current gen consoles, producer Ryota Niitsuma said that it's not going to happen. But, if the game is successful in western markets, a sequel on these platforms is a possibility:
...the game is optimised for the Wii system, especially the graphics features, so if we were to port it to PS3 or Xbox 360 we would have to make the game from scratch, and in that case we might as well just make a sequel of the series on those consoles rather than porting it.
So, I guess the only option is to tell everyone that you know who owns a Wii that they need to go out and buy one? Done and done.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I think the market is already pretty small for this game (hardcore fighting game fans), and the Wii is not a fighting-friendly system.
Good luck, but I won't be holding my breath for a port/sequel.
lazy bastards
In all seriousness I grew up on Tatsukono, so I'm hyped to play as some of the new characters, and there are enough Marvel crossover fighting games to go around (don't forget Children of the Atom, either!). What this game really needs is some SUPA BOOK fighters, then we're talking.
Breaking: People who want it will buy it
People on Kotaku have been absolutely dumb about this statement, blathering on and on about how that 100% absolutely means they'll put a sequel out for XBLA (what?). But then, that's Kotaku.
I believe the sales of this title are going to surprise many.
Most of the fighting game scene already has dualmodded their sticks for PS3 and 360 play, getting them to spend time and money to triplemod a stick, or buy a stick just to play ONE fighting game on a terrible system that has nothing but crap shovelwear and terrible ports is too much.
Reality, if it sells well (TvC) It wont be anything more than a niche within a niche.
It's too much to ask, and almost all of the fighting game scene will turn there backs on this.
Super Smash Bros totally BOMBED didn't it.
I don't play it every day even though I own every console. ;)
I want this game. On any system. I DON'T CARE. Just give it to me. . .
But business is business, and I hope it does sell well enough to get a sequel, even if they do get ported to other sytems. Share the wealth, thats what I say.
Ive been after this since it was released in Japan but didnt want to get my Wii modded at all, and I really didnt enjoy SFIV as much as I thought I would (which annoyed me no end as I bought it on release day).
Im also a VS game whore owning them right back since X-Men vs Streetfighter on the Saturn, so they better bring it to Europe too.
On another note, don't you guys love these ignorant fanboy trolls with no avatar and 1 post? (ex: Skygen)
It kind of makes me laugh that it's going to be Wii-only, because you can see how it pisses off the "fighting game scene".
The only thing that could change that is if the game ends up appealing to the Smash Bros demographic. If that's the case, it will outsell SF4 for sure.
Anyway, I hope people buy it, because it's a great game.
No More Heroes also failed in Japan but it became a hit in the] USA.
it's asking them to redraw Morrigan's sprites all over again!
From what I played of a friend's import copy, it's an accessible game, but I don't think it's anywhere near as accessible as Smash Bros. is, since a game full of well-known Nintendo characters (and Sonic) with "simple but deep" platform-fighting is much easier to get into than a fighting game made up of Capcom characters (many of whom are not as popular as, say, Ryu) and anime characters most people in the West have never heard of. It'd be great to see it take off, I just don't think that it has the same accessibility of, say, Marvel vs. Capcom.
No.
The game, and most likely the planned sequels, had Wii-based hardware created JUST FOR IT. The developers won't ditch their hardware, and completely rebuild the game from the ground up just because a couple of kids in the US want to play this on the HD systems, never mind the fact that they still have Blazblue, SF4, and The King of Fighters XII, which y'know, WII ISN'T GETTING.
jesus.
Did you even for a second consider the fact that the game everyone is discussing here is a 2d fighter and requires NO camera adjustments??? Not to mention the existence of the gamecube controller which has a great right analog. I hope this makes you consider purchasing a copy of this game now. :)
...and if it manages to do well, then good for Capcom. They deserve some money for bringing such an awesome game to the States.
Read this article and shut the hell up.
