Zero isn't Mega Man by a long shot. Zero uses a sword. Mega Man uses his blaster. I don't really know how much more obvious I can make this. I'd accept MMX, MMV from MML, or MM from TOS.

Megaman isn't the golden boy of the VS. Series. Ryu and Akuma are. Why do you think that Ryu has been in every single VS game? Because he's a STREET FIGHTER. It makes sense. I've been feeling the diverse cast for MVC3 since day one I just wish Marvel had a toon character to go along with CAPCOM's crew(Howard the Duck.) Also a little disappointed with the fact that I don't think I've seen anyone anywhere ask for SonSon back where's the love?

If I really need to play a fighting game with Ryu in it, I have about a dozen lying around waiting to be played, including three with the current SF4 engine (SF4, SSF4, TvC). Generally speaking, I don't know that there is a "golden boy" to the MvC series. However, MM is typically seen as the closest Capcom has to a mascot character. He is damn near the Mario of Capcom. Not having him in this game would be like not having Mario in SSBB. That's my issue. I understand that MM is not typically a fighting game character.. but then again neither are THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE ROSTER!
Second, yes, I am pestering to make sure MM is in it. I don't really see what your argument is here. I want him to be in it. You tell me that I'm just saying stuff because I want him in it. I agree with you. Where's the confusion?
Third, I do plan to wait. Specifically, I'll wait until MM is part of the game before purchasing. Looks like Taskmasker is going to be used for a lot of infinites... I really hope Capcom takes this into account during online, the other night I was playing MvC2 and I s**t you not 2 people (and one of the guys twice) joined my game and used one of Magneto's infinites on ALL OF MY F****G CHARACTERS AS SOON AS THEY JUMPED IN. And then some bastard with Psylocke.
Man, sure are a lot of people whining about having to unlock characters that only take about four playthroughs to get. Oh no, I have to spend 15 minutes on the game to get every character - the horror!
Taskmaster looks fun. Akuma looks like a replacement for Ryu. I'm pretty damn satisfied with the roster thus far, actually - especially if Hsien-Ko makes it.

Ryu is apparently more of a golden boy than Mega Man, because he has been in every single proper "VS" crossover game since the series' inception.
It's fine to not prefer the game because Mega Man is in it, but to claim he is "vital and a major part of the VS series" is incorrect, I think. He isn't even in any other Versus games, as opposed to Storm, Magneto, Shuma Gorath, Sabretooth, etc etc.

Pardon me, Capcom vs. SNK 2 had two non-SF character: Morrigan, from fighting series Deathstalker, and Kyosuke from fighting series Rival Schools. Cvs 1 had one non-SF character: again, Morrigan from Deathstalkers.
MvC/TvC is very different. In TvC, 3 out of 13 are SF. In MvC, only 3/11 are SF. In MvC 2, which has the highest ratio, 12 of 28 are SF. Heck, thus far, only 4 of the MvC 3 characters are from SF. To be honest, in terms of character selection, you can't really conflate the SF vs. series and the SNK vs. series with the MvC/TvC series.

his supers are way easy to counter
megamans melee attacks deal a lot more damage than anything.
the devs decided to make zero have flashy melee attacks.

Akumam is great, even if he is just Ryu Championship Edition. As for Taskmaster, he looks much more fun than I would have thought. :D

To me, it's not about competitive play with Mega Man. It's like I personally am a big fan of Mega Man, and that would be a big selling point for me. Without him.. well.. I have SF 4 on PC, SSF 4 on PS3, BlazBlue, TvC, and all the classic games, MvC 2 included.
