One of the most disappointing Wii U launch titles is undoubtedly Namco Bandai's arcade-to-console port of Tank! Tank! Tank! Not that I think the game is necessarily bad -- I loved my time with the original arcade cabinet -- but expecting people to plop down 50 bones for such a shallow experience is borderline criminal.

Thankfully, Namco Bandai has acknowledged its missteps and decided to make the European eShop release free-to-play. A basic pack that includes Monster Battle, Free-for-All, and Team Versus play modes is now available for free download, but you'll be limited to three play sessions of each mode per day. DLC packs with extra levels and modes can be purchased for a temporary price of £1.59 (~$2.46) apiece -- they will climb to £7.99 (~12.38) after February 28 -- and snagging any one of them will remove the play session restriction.

This free-to-play model was actually how the game was originally positioned in Japan. Why did the rest of the world get screwed over? In any case, I hope Namco Bandai decides to do the same to the American eShop version.

I downloaded Tank! Tank! Tank! yesterday for free on the Wii U eShop, and I have to say, despite the fact that it may not be worth a full retail asking price, it's a great time-wasting free download. But it seems as if that's...more

Review: Tank! Tank! Tank!

There's nothing more upsetting than a game that believes, if it's wacky enough, it can get away with being crap. It's hard not to love a game that seeks refuge in audacity, as evidenced by the cult fanbase of such titles as D...more

TGS: Tank! Tank! Tank! four-player Wii U My Kong Mode

I had a go at the new four-player mode for upcoming Wii U game Tank! Tank! Tank! here at TGS 2012. Namco Bandai calls it My Kong Mode, and they say it's a perfect fit for their casual party battle title. The game also include...more

See more of Platinum's Legend of Korra game
