Bandai has announced plans to resurrect Tamagotchi on iOS and Android devices. While the handheld digital pet never truly went away, its star certainly has faded since the late nineties. Perhaps the popular egg-shaped toy has been out of the public consciousness just long enough now for people to start feeling nostalgic about cleaning up virtual poop.

Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. is said to feature a range of mini-games in addition to a retro mode reminiscent of the original toys. Oh boy, mini-games! Look out for it on the App Store and Google Play sometime soon.
