Talk about retro: Missile Command vinyl album? photo

It's like retro on top of retro! If the Atari game Missile Command wasn't retro enough, how about a Missle Command vinyl soundtrack?

This rare 33 RPM, 12" vinyl LP from the 1980s contains the score [hah!] to this classic game. You get a whopping three tracks, with one of them being the "Atari Theme." So really two tracks. There's a running eBay auction for the vinyl album with the Buy It Now price of $100. I don't know that I'd pay $100 for this, but I'd definitely pay some money to hear what this sounds like.

And while we're on the topic of eBay, check out this alleged $100,000 worth of games auction. Nice, colorful, easy-to-read, all-caps print is appreciated. Thanks for that, seller. There's a ton of good stuff in this auction, with lots of it being new. The thing is that I don't think there's more than $10,000 worth here.

I miss Atari 2600 box art. My fave was Haunted House.

Oh, that's flippin' schway. I'd never spend that much money on anything in which I didn't have some insane personal, emotional investment, but still cool.

Holy crap -- I had this as a kid!

The music was awful... they gave the whole thing some screwy plot. One of the lyrics was something like "here on Zarkon, we are peaceful, we don't like to fight."

I wonder if it's still floating around my parents' house somewhere...

I have this album, and it is very weird but entertaining. I guess it's the equivalent of those 'Sound & Drama' albums you can get for japanese games. Only they tend to accompany games that actually have plots to start with...

How about the Yars' Revenge LP? Breakin' it down with the drone loops.
