Take-Two messing around with Natal, PS Motion Controller photo

"Natal motion-sensors - yes we have dev kits, yes we’re working on them."

Take-Two said that they have installed both Project Natal and PlayStation Motion Controller development kits in most of their studios during their investors call today. Their CEO, Ben Feder, says that "everybody's working with them to try to figure out new ways in which we can innovate and create the kind of content that this company is famous for."

My arms are already tired just thinking about it.

I can't even begin to imagine what Take-Two has in mind for both of these control types. I know I'd prefer they came up with something new for the tech, rather than working it into existing franchises. That said, Natal-sensed one-to-one bitch slaps for Grand Theft Auto could be fun.

QTE. I'm not a fan of them all the time but if they had something that made me physically dodge or make a movement I think they could become a fun part of any cutscene. Spell casting in a game could get interested if you had to wave your arms around all mystical-like.

Now Wii games will get ported to PS3/360 with half assed controls.

Revenge!

That picture looks bullshit to me, how can the cameras see her had if it's so close to the screen?
I know, I know it's a concept video, but that's what got people excited, concept videos
@Holyetheline: it's a dev 360

So, who else is as excited for the influx of crappy wagglefests that will be ported directly from the Wii to the PS3 and Xbox 360? Anyone?

If Take Two was behind a game, any game, for the Wii that was worthy of note, it might be interesting. But any company that can't or wouldn't make a good wii game, they probably can't make a good motion control game. Either that, or they're elitist jerks who refuse to make good games for the most popular system with the cheapest developement costs due to developer pride.

Seriously, the Wii should be the most popular system to develop on - huge install base and relatively low developement costs means you can make 4 wii games for the price of a PS3 game. Or when considering GTA IV, they could have made 20 AAA wii titles for that $100 million dollar price tag.

I think the real use of those technologies would be in a combination with the classic controls. For example: A shooter - you walk and shoot with the classic controller and all, but natal senses when you lean (only slightly in RL) left or right and animates your character peaking out of cover.

I think it's subtle stuff like that, that would make the experience so much cooler, not a full on waggle and jump control-scheme. Although there could be games, where this is fun too. You get my idea...

I think using Natal with the classic controls undercuts every bit of marketting Microsoft has done concerning breaking down barriers between non-gamers and games. From a gameplay perspective, I think the PS3 wand has a lot more potential than Natal, because games almost always use a number of preset animations that occur upon the pressing of a button. The goal of Natal is to use no controller, which means true Natal games (not Natal combatible, but Natal exclusive) would either not have any preset character animations (incredibly difficult to do and furthermore unlikely - even Wii Sports Resort uses dozens of preset animations), or have all preset animations determined by an arbitrary body movement in the place of a button press. This includes some very basic animations such as "move forward."
