We’ve talked a lot about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on this glorious day. First, we hit you with a Ten Minute Taste, featuring as always, the first ten minutes of the game -- all the loads, all the scenes, and all the sweet tutorial action. A little bit later on we showed you the now-infamous “No Russian” level, which turned a few heads when it was leaked weeks prior to the game’s release. Hell, we even found the time to do a Ten Minute Taste for Call of Duty: Classic, the downloadable packed in with special editions of the MW2.

But now it’s time to hit you with the MW2's bread and butter: the multiplayer. In the above you can watch me play an unaltered and rousing round of Team Deathmatch in “Karachi,” a nice urban level with plenty of high ground.

In the video, I manage to get on a kill streak, call in a UAV and an airdrop and even watch someone else put a turret on the ground. This was my first match in the component, so you’ll see me level up as well within the 12 or so minutes as well.

This happened to be my first match, so I was feeling pretty good about my ratio afterwards. My second match though? Not so great -- I ran into some vicious veterans who apparently mastered this game within five hours. I blame the massive loss on both the player's mastery and the lack of melee weapons. Fists can be lethal too, Infinity Ward.

okay...well done. I leave the boat of boycott and enter the ship of fascination.

Will buy it. Not yet, but in some weeks.

I think its a great game. I dont care about dedi servers anymore,
hope there will be less hackers and cheaters there. So yeah it looks good.

It's so addictive. Even now I'm thinking of jumping on to play just one more match. And maybe just one more after that.

At the risk of sounding like a goddamn dirty bitch scab, I have to say:
I... I kind of don't hate what they've done with the PC version. I miss leaning. I think Dedicated Servers will be back in same form before all this is done--
but the game is fun, host migration WORKS (and well, in my few hours of experience) and what's the alternative? Playing this game with dual analogs?

I don't love everything about it, and the experience gets a touch of the lag once in a while, but in the middle of the action, you stop caring because what they've added is far greater than what they've taken away. Buddy lists are built into Steam directly and you can party up and go from playlist to playlist. Matches are no longer these half hour protracted affairs and when I unlock something new, the game gives you 50 or so seconds to do something with it between matches, rather then dumping out of a dedicated server to tweak your loadout.

I miss choice, but what I'm forced to deal with sure as shit is not hellish.

The Payback flourish makes me wince every time, though.

Despite all the controversy over things yanked from the multiplayer it doesn't change the fact that it looks like a blast. I'll pick it up after i finish dragon age (...So at least 100 hours)

This looks so. fucking. boring. I can't fathom why people are still enamored with deathmatch.

Do you mean just vanilla free for all, are are you sliding all team and objective games into that wastebasket? I'm just curious.

Is the map as enormous as it seems to be? I feel like you got lost a few times there.

It's nearly the same as COD4: just more balanced.

For the first minute I thought you were playing the PC version because you were swinging around so much. Man, how high did you bump up the sensitivity?

Lack of melee weapons?

Hang on a second. Is there a fully auto pistol in the game, or is the dude you're playing with using a modded controller? And if that's the case, didn't Infinity Ward say they were going to fix it so modded controllers wouldn't work in MW2?

no dedicated servers - so this will be a cheaters paradise on pc? No?

I'm guessing this game is popular because of the particular ethnicity of the "enemy".

Totally not interested in the game.
And, kind of sickened by the pandering.

I bought it on PS3 today and the multiplayer is just fantastic. The single player is great too so far, but Im loving the co-op mulitplayer and the competitive stuff. This game is fantastic!

I'm at rank 26/27 right now, cannot get enough, put more hours in since the midnight launch than i've spent sleeping/at work.

I've not had a thourough look but i've seen items that unlock at lvl 70 - so what's the prestige cap this time?

I just LOVE what they've done with the killstreaks and the callsign thing. Really cool to be able to show off some shit you've unlocked, but even better to show it of to the guy you just killed!

Saw someone end a match with a tactical nuke last night - was a gent and asked us first if he should do it or not. My response was "do it do it do it" (using the apparently "shitty" voice chat on my PS3?? - fuck off)

Also got my first ride in an attack chopper, fucking awesome to be able to shoot people from the sky!

oh yeah, bling perk FTW too! 2 attachments is a fucking winner. Loving the thermal scopes too. just cannot get enough. FAMAS + Thermal scope + grenade launcher / silencer = WIN!
