Game Over: Stories of E.T. and industry failures uncovered in new trailer

You ever hear of game developers living like rock stars? That's what Atari was doing back in the '80s when it was on top of the world. Then E.T. happened, and well, it all went wrong very quickly. As part of Xbox's...

Get a taste of the Bayonetta anime's english dub here
by Chris Carter

As an anime fan growing up, dubs were often hit or miss. Not a whole lot of companies took their dubwork seriously, and often times, I'd resort to subtitles to get my anime fix. But over the years, pretty much every major company has stepped up their game, and there's hardly a dub I wouldn't listen to -- that goes for Bayonetta Bloody Fate too, based on this new trailer.

Although the quality of the film itself may be questionable overall depending on who you talk to, this looks completely watchable. Expect the North American release later this year.

Link's outfit looks pretty badass in Monster Hunter 4 photo
Link's outfit looks pretty badass in Monster Hunter 4
by Chris Carter

We've already known that Monster Hunter 4 has a very neat looking set of Link armor and weapon sets, but we haven't seen a whole lot of footage on them -- until this week that is, when Capcom unleashed a new trailer into the world.

Ok that's great -- but all people are thinking in the West is "are we getting it?!" Now we can finally answer that question with a resounding "yes," compliments of Capcom Unity. Yes -- the West will be getting Link's armor and weapon sets.

Confirmed: Link's weapons and armor are in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate [Capcom Unity]

Rhythm puzzler Beatbuddy is coming to the iPad

Although many have found flaws with developer Threaks' Beatbuddy, the art style is something that stuck in my mind for weeks to come after playing it. I'm willing to give it another shot later this year, as the game has just...

Monster Hunter 4 NA weapon contest winner is an insect glaive

I don't think anyone expected the North American weapon contest winner to top the UK's Monster Hunter 4 design (a freaking pig on a club, c'mon!), but it's a pretty cool looking item nonetheless. Yep, the North American...

How would you feel if your online opponent was secretly a bot? photo
How would you feel if your online opponent was secretly a bot?
by Jonathan Holmes

Yesterday I was playing Wii Sports Club Boxing online while contemplating stuff to talk about on this week's Sup Holmes. I thought I'd have a while to think, but I was wrong. I only had to wait like 3 seconds before I was thrown into a match. For the least popular mode of a game that I'm guessing hasn't even sold 750,000 yet, that's not too shabby.

I got my butt kicked, so I jumped into another match. Again, it was just 3 seconds before I found a new opponent. Again, I got beat down (K.O'ed on the first fall!), so again I went looking for another a new challenger. Again, I was paired up quickly, but this time I won. After that I cut my losses and went back to training mode. Sometimes its best to quit while you're ahead.

Now I'm not accusing Nintendo of anything here, but while punching those giant floating training mode plates, the thought crossed my mind that the person I just fake-assautled might not even be real. Maybe none of them were real. They did engage in a few exchanges with me using the games pre-set text dialogue system, but that's not exact solid proof of humanity. On top of that, all their Mii's were pretty generic, and their fighting styles were awfully similar to what you might find in CPU opponents in single player mode. Then again, in Wii Sports Boxing, there isn't a whole lot of strategy when you're not very good. It's pretty much just "Always Be Punching: The Game" (which tells you how rusty I am that I kept losing), regardless if you're fighting a the game's AI or some other flailing schlub like yourself.

The question is, if Nintendo had set up some auto-play online opponents to give the illusion that you were taking on a "real" person, would that be a bad thing?

They grow up so fast: Game Informer interviews Aaron Linde about writing Battleborn

It doesn't feel like it has been that long since former Destructoid reviews editor Aaron Linde moved on to work in the game industry, but it has been almost six years now. In that time, he has contributed to a number of deve...

Darunia will hammer all-comers

Most of the official trailers for Hyrule Warriors are short compilations showing off big and boisterous attacks. What they haven't shown is much of the game's overall flow and pacing. That's caused some to worry that Nintend...

There are Hawaiian Shirts in Sunset Overdrive!
by Max Scoville

As we recently learned, Sunset Overdrive lets players protect their genitals with the head of a green kangaroo, which is a very silly idea. But is that silly enough, in this post-Saints Row world? The answer is "who cares?" because there are also Hawaiian Shirts and Hawaiian Shirts are my jam.

Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom is a shameless Zelda-like

Cordycep snap: Last of Us PS4 photo mode detailed

I already wrote about how much I loved the idea behind inFamous: Second Son's photo mode and I'm glad to see the trend continuing, even if it's an obvious marketing thing. Taking cool pictures is fun. Plus, in that article I made a great Ansel Adams Family joke. This video explains how to go about snapping shots in The Last of Us' PS4 remaster.

What's Up? Our panel at PAX Prime 2014, Far Cry 4, Destiny Beta, Vietnam & a ferret
by Bill Zoeker

Max and I thought it would be a good idea to keep everyone posted on our goings-on. This was spurned by many, many people wondering why we've been filming in Max's actual kitchen. We answer this question, and some y'all haven't even thought of yet.

In the video above, you can find out why Max went to Comic-Con for one day, why Max is going to be out of the country for two weeks, and who will be on our PAX Prime 2014 panel. Oh yeah, by the way, Destructoid is presenting a panel at PAX, hosted by Max, myself, and various personalities from around the internet.
