Uncharted 4 trailer analysis: Hints at improvements over Uncharted 3 photo
Uncharted 4 trailer analysis: Hints at improvements over Uncharted 3
by Steven Hansen

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa" - Nathan Drake.

As Chris mentioned when the trailer debuted at PlayStation Experience, Uncharted 4 looks, "very Uncharted." There are Nolan North quips at everything you see. The dark and dingy cave gives way to a sun-washed, cinematic vista as three birds fly by right as your eyes adjust to the sun.

The climbing, too, looks same as it ever was, save for the addition of a centuries-old, apparently indestructible soft-rock-climbing dagger. And a grappling hook, which was at least used once.

But while the base mechanics are familiar, the layout, at least as it appears in this trailer, is different, and that's why I'm a bit more excited for A Thief's End after being less impressed with Uncharted 3

Catch 15 full minutes of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End gameplay photo
Catch 15 full minutes of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End gameplay
by Chris Carter

Sony started off with a bang with a live demo for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, which you can check out above. It's a full 15 minute demo complete with live gameplay, which includes a fateful encounter with Drake and the floor.

It looks...very Uncharted, which is both good and bad, I guess. You'll see lots of stealth gameplay and full-on shooter sections alongside of the beautiful new engine -- but I've always thought the games were pretty impressive visually, so I feel like it's just par for the course.

I was pretty disappointed by Uncharted 3, so I'm hoping for an improvement with A Thief's End.

These were the best trailers of E3 2014 photo
These were the best trailers of E3 2014
by Brett Makedonski

That's another E3 in the books. After months of speculation as to what gaming's most important convention might hold, four quick days clear everything up. In a way, it almost feels criminally short given everything that's on display at the show.

While it's impossible to personally see everything at E3, publishers always put their best foot forward by releasing new trailers for almost the entirety of their portfolio. It's a handy practice, as it's a nice marketing tactic to give the world a controlled glimpse of their games.

It's important to remember that trailers need to be taken with a grain of salt. They might accurately portray the title. Rather, they may eventually completely misrepresent the game entirely. Regardless of what the future holds for each, these were the trailers that best captured our attention last week.

Sony announces Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, coming 2015
by Darren Nakamura

Whew. Sony's E3 press conference was a long one, but the PlayStation manufacturer capped it off with a huge announcement: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

Over video of Nathan Drake lying facedown in mud, we can hear Drake and Sully bantering back and forth. Along with the subtitle, they foreshadow that this could be Drake's last adventure.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is coming to PlayStation 4 in 2015.
