Helldivers will let you play every combination of co-op imaginable photo
Helldivers will let you play every combination of co-op imaginable
by Bill Zoeker

Before GDC, we were joined by some of the fine folks at Sony live on Dtoid.TV. Above is a video of us playing an early build of Helldivers with its Sr. Producer, Mark Rogers.

Helldivers is a game that admittedly went under my radar literally until the moment we showed it off on Dtoid.TV. Then I found out it's being developed by the same folks who brought us Magicka. Then I found out, when it comes out for PS3, PS4, and the PS Vita this summer, Helldivers will allow you to play with friends locally, online, and across all three platforms in any combination. I am super down for this title. It seems our cooperative options are narrowing these days, and that's really the only kind of multiplayer I care about.

What Twitch Plays Pokemon and True Detective teach us about modern storytelling photo
What Twitch Plays Pokemon and True Detective teach us about modern storytelling
by Steven Hansen

Recently, two opposite things have become popular: Twitch Plays Pokemon and True Detective. Popularity is a plague, now more than ever. It spreads. Tumblr fandoms have gif sets up before an episode of a show can end. On Twitter, people are "live-tweeting" a thing while they're supposed to be engaged with it, filling that space in between live-tweet sessions with themed hashtags (#truedetectiveseason2).

I was into Twitch Plays Pokemon (Red) for its novelty, for the creativity is spawned: songs, comics, and other bits of art. But its crowd-sourced canon is infinite monkeys on infinite keyboards. Except eventually writing memes instead of Shakespeare. Because time is finite and there are constraints. The same ones that let it finish Red in only 16 straight days. Because the monkeys can't just fling shit for six years between typing "up" and "a."

Xbox One Twitch streaming: All the details photo
Xbox One Twitch streaming: All the details
by Dale North

As you may have heard earlier today, Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One will get Twitch gameplay streaming on March 11, just in time for Titanfall. We have more details on how this highly anticipated addition will work.

First, the Xbox One's Kinect will play a role in streaming on Twitch. By calling out "Xbox, Broadcast," the system will immediately begin streaming, and calling out "Stop Broadcast" will end it.  Kinect will also allow picture-in-picture video feeds and audio commentary through its microphones and cameras.

Streaming works from any source, even the PS4, so you're able to enjoy content from anything that connects to Twitch. You'll also be able to archive gameplay and access any archived Twitch content from the console.

Outside of streaming, you'll be able to chat with other streamers and even join in on their games. Chat streams are fully available, a full 10 lines are displayed, and commenting even supports emotes and badges. You can even join broadcaster parties.

Finally, you'll be able to check in on friends' broadcast status in the Xbox One friends app. Notifications are available to let you know when a favorite stream starts.

Below, you'll find a peek at what Twitch will look like on Xbox One.
