Here's what EA thinks is worth a press conference

At the EA press conference earlier, Peter Moore stood on stage and showed off various modes in The Sims 4. None of that was important though. This is the most important piece of information to come from the presentation. Behold: buff, shirtless Peter Moore. You're welcome.

The Sims 4 'Weirder' series tells the story of an incredibly not weird man

EA made a video series called "Weirder Stories" to showcase the wacky lives of some theoretical citizens in the upcoming The Sims 4, and then literally made the most dull character it could. Cribbing from Dos Equis' "Most In...

Yep, The Sims 4 will support mods

The Sims 4 won't "include every single feature and piece of content we added to The Sims 3 over the last five years," according to its developers, but modding? Yeah, that's not going anywhere. Sims VIP has recapped details ou...

So, uh, EA is giving out The Sims 2 Ultimate for free photo
So, uh, EA is giving out The Sims 2 Ultimate for free
by Jordan Devore

EA recently announced the end of its technical support for The Sims 2 and in doing so said that players would be given a free The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection upgrade as thanks.

That was an unexpected move, but this one's even more surprising: folks who don't even own The Sims 2 can also get the game and all of its expansions for free.

You just need to have an Origin account and, from the Games tab, redeem the product code "I-Love-The-Sims" -- it'll remain active until July 31, 2014 at 10:00am Pacific.

Never once thought I'd own any Sims expansion content, and now I have it all. Wild!

You won't like the explanation for The Sims 4's lack of pools and toddlers

The Sims 4 will not launch with the option to give your Sims a pool, or have them go through the toddler life stage, as has been the case in prior games. Presumably, those features are coming post-launch, most likely in an ex...

Like me, The Sims 4 keeps getting 'Smarter and Weirder'

In a new gameplay trailer released today, fans were given a sneak peek at the latest entry to the Sims franchise, The Sims 4. Many of the old Sims tropes abound, such as electrocuting yourself when you attempt to learn how t...

No pools or toddlers in The Sims 4 at launch

The new Build Mode for The Sims 4 looks fantastic in that it just works -- you aren't fighting with the tools to design something halfway decent looking. There's one problem, though: no pools! In a blog post, The Sims Studio ...

The Sims 4: Aspirations and emotional traits systems shown
by Dale North

We've seen some of the key features of The Sims 4 since its announcement around this time last year.. We know, for example, how easy it is to create your character, and we've seen how they've overhauled the game's build mode. But Maxis has only briefly touched on how you'll create and develop your character's goals and emotions. We saw a bit more of how that works at a recent pre-E3 briefing.

Russia brands Sims 4 18+ because of same-sex relationships

Pixel Heart is a documentary/game featuring talents from Rez, Journey, more photo
Pixel Heart is a documentary/game featuring talents from Rez, Journey, more
by Steven Hansen

This is confusing, but cool. Pixel Heart is going to be a documentary that visits a bunch of talented, global folks in videogames -- Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Rez), Robin Hunicke (Sims, Journey), Edmundo Bordeu (Zeno Clash), Mark Healey (Little Big Planet), and Eyram Tawia (Letiarts) -- and then trots back to France for a big game jam.

The game jam will produce 12 games, 6 of which will be available to play online, 6 of which will use some sort of dedicated hardware.

To fund this wild project, Pixel Heart has taken to French crowd funding platform Ulule, which you can donate to regardless of region.

This all sounds amazing, and the crowdfunding video sells it. Seriously, at least watch the kitchen scene at 3:35. It makes A la cartridge look bad (which it obviously is or it wouldn't be #cancelled).
