Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is bold and uncompromising
by Alessandro Fillari

In 2010, Konami took a chance on the obscure Spanish development studio MercurySteam to create a reboot for one of the most adored and quoted game series ever. While Castlevania: Lords of Shadow went on to become a popular seller and was admired for its storytelling and action, it was a also a polarizing entry among fans of the series.

Now, the developers are back with their next and final title in the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series -- and they fully intend on leaving their mark on the franchise. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is daring, shows the clout that the developers earned from their previous outing, and also marks the first time we'll get to play as the infamous Dracula.

Destructoid was invited out to play the first few hours of the game, where we also had some time to chat with game producer Dave Cox. We got to see firsthand what it took to bring this iconic character to life, and how the developers at MercurySteam plan to make the series relevant again.

Play as Classic Snake in Metal Gear Solid V on PS4 photo
Play as Classic Snake in Metal Gear Solid V on PS4
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

The Metal Gear series has a rich history on the PlayStation platform, and because of that Konami is including a special throwback mission in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. The PlayStation-exclusive is called the "Deja Vu Mission," and it will let you play as Classic Snake in all his polygon ugliness in both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 version of the game.

So, uh, great. Nothing like showing off your brand new shiny Fox Engine on a next generation console than including the ugly PlayStation 1 era model of Solid Snake.

Hideo Kojima asked for it and he has received photo
Hideo Kojima asked for it and he has received
by Wesley Ruscher

Back in September, Hideo Kojima tweeted that he was making Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's Quiet "more erotic" to entice cosplay. He shared designs of the character's backside and almost seemed to taunt would-be cosplayers with claims that it may be too hard to pull off

Well meet cosplayer and UK Dtoider, Kelly Jean's take on the silent, but deadly sniper. As a big fan of the Metal Gear series -- just check out her fantastic EVA cosplay -- Jean wanted to take on the challenge of recreating the accuracy of an actual video game render.

"I only know limited amounts about Quiet, as we all do, but since I am a fan of the franchise it's going to take quite a lot to disappoint me. Though I do hope she gets some trousers, she makes me feel pretty cold," Jean said.

Shot in a studio, to get the lighting right, and with some minimal editing Jean's creation of Quiet is eerily spot on, all the way down to the exact hand placements from the MGS V still. The costume came from mostly modified combat gear and has even caught the attention of Kojima himself

With Christmas right around the corner, Jean will also be selling prints of her 'Quiet' cosplay to raise money for Special Effect. All profits will go to the charity, which specializes in bringing the joy of gaming to those with disabilities.

"I am currently in training to be a health care assistant and care worker. The girl I'm soon to be helping out is really bright and enjoys her games, but has severe physical disabilities, so I'm really passionate about this cause," Jean said.
