While they set off fireworks
Not only did we find out today that the soon-to-be-released Firewatch is going to cost $19.99, but now we have our first full playthrough of day one in the game thanks to PlayStation Access.
Personally, I'm even m...
With a dash of Wind Waker
A young woman's loneliness turns her into a monster in a flooded city in Sea of Solitude, the upcoming game from developer Jo-Mei. CEO and creative director Cornelia Geppert gave handsome fellow Anthony Carboni an exclusive ...

Real time... weapon changing
IGN have released a video for the upcoming Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide (doesn’t that name just roll off the tongue?), showing interviews with the developers at FatShark, as well as some snippets of gameplay...
A private showing for the fans only
Since that massive wave of info about Fallout 4 back at E3, I've counting the days till its November release. I'm a big fan of the series, and seeing its debut on the current gen was incredibly satisfying. Unfortunately, Beth...
Some of my favorite things
Zenyatta and Mercy gameplay videos have been posted by the official Overwatch YouTube channel, and boy does the game look fun! Zenyatta uses his magical floating balls to attack instead of a gun, while Mercy has a magic stic...
Hey, this is Hot Take! It's another new Destructoid video series! New videogames come out all the time, and we want to show you what it's like to play them; think mini-Let's Plays. Our inaugural episode is Dying Li...
Mike Ross and Combofiend throw down in SFV
Closing out the incredibly tense Capcom Cup, Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono surprised the audience with a live demo of Street Fighter V. With the audience giving them their full attention, Mike Ross and Combofiend, both legendary players within the fighting game community, took the stage to compete in the world's first public match in Street Fighter V.
A lot of our decisions are made because we got too drunk
A little while ago, Max and I were bribed with booze by Devolver Digital to play Titan Souls, an upcoming monster-slaying action game. We got so drunk during our stream of the game, that I'm not even going to link the video ...
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
After news of the delay back in September, the folks at WB Games and Rocksteady have kept all things Batman: Arkham Knight close to the vest. Thankfully, they figured we could use another appetizer after their showing at E3, ...
"Oi, Guv! Did you nick my Vichyssoise?!"
Max and I are still working our way through the first hour of Assassin's Creed: Unity. I really like re-watching this part of our playthrough because every time I do, I see a new NPC twitching or jostling around. Also, we made jokes about reality television and stuff.
What if AssCreed existed in a world were the developers could finish it
Max and I were fighting to stay awake through the beginning of Assassin's Creed Unity, and Max posited a theory that many Ubisoft published games exist in the same universe. Then we saw a fancy boy and a pig and at least had something to joke about for a while.
Leave the Diet Coke by the door next time
Max and I were trudging along in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, when I shared a gut feeling that Kevin Spacey is not a very nice person. Max proceeded to share a story related by an ex-girlfriend, who had her adoration of Spacey crushed by that rude, kissy man.
Well. 50 minutes, anyway.
Far Cry 4 is a game I've been looking forward to since ages ago -- and now, it's finally something I can play. Poorly. Here you go, watch us flounder. Go on, we're a mess.
From boring to broken in just 10 minutes
Oh boy... Max and I jumped into Assassin's Creed Unity. Max started out cautiously excited at what this new iteration might bring, while I have never been at all interested in the series. It's not long before both of our sentiments landed at the same astonished disappointment. Trust me, it only gets uglier from here.
Press 'Gun' to boner
Max and I were playing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare while hungover, and started devolving into dumber and dumber jokes, and then Max busts out a term like "jingoistic proto-fascism" because we're a couple of San Francisco hipsters who definitely don't have informed, individually refined opinions about things because the world is a vampire and everything is fake.
I like to shred 'crete on the reg
Max and I continue to fumble around in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, as our minds wander to some predictably stupid places. We talk about meeting an imaginary teen named Stephan at the skate park, how to find "The Boob," and aggravatingly stupid YouTube comments.
Now Golden Girls, on the other hand...
Max and I continue giving the benefit of the doubt to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Max started talking about a crazy theory he has connecting the television shows Gilmore Girls and Californication because his brain was polluted by a combination of oysters and vodka. Don't do booze, kids.
Max and I got our hands on a copy of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. We figured we should probably play it because people like to watch men get sweaty in videogames or whatever. Anyway, we recorded this the day after Max's birthday, so we were both pretty hungover, which served to exacerbate our lack of shooter skill and the incoherence of our jokes. Enjoy.
I swear to God, if anyone is confused by that headline...
At a recent Xbox event, I got to play a bunch of multiplayer stuff in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. I was caught off guard when we were suddenly dropped into the online multiplayer for Halo: Combat Evolved's PC version,...
Techland has gone ahead and cancelled the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of its free-running, first-person zombie game Dying Light. It will still be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One early next year.

Don't get mad! I like the game!
I recently got my hands on Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo Wii U, and holy Bowser babies, are there a lot of new and expanded features! In fact, there is so much new stuff that I could hardly cover it all, so instead I am sharing my boiled-down list of the 8 most interesting things that I think Nintendo has done well for Smash U, and the 8 things I think could use some work.
No, I will not high five you
Back when I spent way too much time playing with the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel interactive skill trees, I admitted that I was not really sure what to do with Claptrap's highly random play style. This video shows off some o...
Developer diary focuses on movement
So I still need to actually play Vanquish in full, but that rocket knee slide? Good stuff. Dying Light's slide is not so cool, but with enough forward momentum, you could get a decent slide going.
I am only still ...
Of course you do
With gamescom now behind us, you'd figure that CD Projekt RED would keep a tight lid on all things related to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. But apparently not, as it would seem. A week after the show, the developers decided to un...
I'm out of cowgirl puns
I got to spend a little time with Nisha the Lawbringer from Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and yippee ki-yay is she a fun character. Nisha brings Old West sensibilities to this moon shooter, and a few new tricks as well. And a bullwhip.
You can now customise your own Holmes!
There are "gameplay trailers" and then there's this trailer for Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments that shows off a whopping 23 minutes of gameplay from Frogware and Focus Interactive's upcoming adventure game. Follow...
'Why would you take that toy from a baby, you dumb man!?'
Slender: The Arrival is coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this year, and it's arriving with some added content (which owners of the game on PC will receive for free). Casey Lynch from Midnight City came by to play through...
Just what is Tien doing with Chiaotzu, though?!
We're back with a whole new arc of hanging out and talking about Dragon Ball. We've jumped into the GameBoy Advance title, Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure, one of the best Dragon Ball games out there.
In this episode, we beat up boar bandits, fall down holes, and have uncomfortable conversations about Yamcha and Tien's relationships with their small companions.
3DSing all night
Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is out. In Japan. There is a lot of text to be translated before we get it this fall, as you can see for yourself.
So the game opens with a decision. Great. Not paralyzing at all. To go the...
