Cloudbase Prime alpha build available now, free to download
by Rob Morrow

Originally created for the 7DFPS Challenge in 2012, Cloudbase Prime is an attractive-looking low-poly FPS platformer by Tyrus Peace and is currently available for free in its 0.2 alpha state. You can download it here.

Set on a floating mining platform above a gas giant, you'll be tasked with destroying robotic enemies using your energy cannon and the Architect: a gizmo that can be used to manipulate the hex-based tiles that the mining platform is constructed from.

The game reminds me a bit of Drunken Robot Pornography, and that's definitely not a bad thing in my book: It's got giant robots, high-flying platforming and first-person shooter elements. Oh yeah, did I mention that it's free?

For an idea of how the game plays, take a look at the developer's Walker Mech combat footage in the video above.

Push Me Pull You is 2-vs-2 gross sausage monster ball wrestling

Hamza was won over by Push Me Pull You at GDC and I wish I had gotten a chance to try it, too. At least now there's some disturbing video of it in action.  "Connected at the waist, you and your partner must use a s...

Mega64's latest spoof takes on Early Access games in a hilarious way

At this point, I'm pretty much a fan of whatever content Mega64 decides to create. After the Game Gurlz series, I was down for life. And now with the release of this "Beta Man" video, I'm doubled over with laughter ready to ...

Valve updates Steam Early Access FAQ with warning that some games won't be released

When you purchase a game from Steam Early Access, there's always a risk you take that the game you put down that hard-earned money on may not actually release in full. Sure, that doesn't always happen, but often enough that V...

Legend of Grimrock 2 is skipping Steam Early Access

A game like Legend of Grimrock 2 could absolutely run a successful early-access campaign. Its predecessor was a solid first-person dungeon-crawler and developer Almost Human has rightfully earned goodwill. I'm sure plenty of ...

Star Citizen Arena Commander dogfighting update delayed

As gamers seem to be more and more willing to play games in an unfinished state, it feels surprising to me when a developer decides to delay an update because of bugs. Of course unfinished games are buggy -- we expect that --...

DayZ standalone crosses two million sales while still in Early Access

Terrifying stranger simulator DayZ has now sold over two million copies in under six months of (Early Access) standalone availability according to lead developer Dean Hall. It helps when your game mechanics encourage players to do your marketing for you, making all sorts of popular YouTube videos about the emergent experience full of weirdos.
