Yoshi is trying to seduce me

Remember when I wrote that review and said I fucking hate dinosaurs? I take that statement back. I'm in love with Yoshi in Mario Party 10 -- just look at the fuck-me eyes and seductive tail waggle he gives you when in third ...

This new Yoshi Figuarts toy is dawwwsome

I have a general rule when it comes to getting merchandise for games. If it's a series I really love and have a collection for, I'll get a moderate amount of goods for it. Mario happens to be one of those series, and man...

How did Destructoid's most anticipated games of 2014 come out? photo
How did Destructoid's most anticipated games of 2014 come out?
by Steven Hansen

Want to feel old? January 2014 was just about one year ago. That's one whole season of a TV show or a complete Earth's orbit around the sun. Way back then--I can hardly remember it in the shadow of the god awful year--the Destructoid staff did a list of our most anticipated games of 2014

And what suckers we were! Most of the damned things didn't even come out. Chris was right to go with sure-thing Dark Souls II. It would've been hard to mess up (or not release). And a few folks who picked things way back in the first Year of Luigi (AL) didn't follow up for various reasons, but be assured that Patrick Hancock was definitely happy with Super Smash Bros

It was a weird year of games, though, rife with big-name delays, big-name flops, and lovely games that came out of nowhere to end up being the most fun (like Invisible Inc.) Maybe 2015 will do right by us (or us by it). For now, let's look back.

Yoshi is properly known as T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas

Console Wars author Blake J. Harris has tweeted a page from an old internal Nintendo of America Character Manual about Yoshi that, well, just read for yourself: "Yoshi, properly known as T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas, had been he...

Best Buy is doing buy one, get one for 3DS games this week

These Yoshi's New Island 3DS XL covers are colorful and cute

I don't know about you, but I'm partial to clear cases for my 3DS XL. Currently I'm rocking a $2 crystal cover so I can preserve my Pokémon X & Y design while still protecting the system. But these Yoshi's New Isla...

What's the verdict on Yoshi's Woolly World? Unsurprisingly, Max says it looks and feels good.

He's a huge fan of the original Yoshi's Island on Super Nintendo and after the recent Yoshi's New Island, this game and its adorable hand-crafted aesthetic can't come soon enough. Shame it's not out until 2015, a running theme for much of this year's E3 lineup. No Baby Mario, at least.

Sequin Yoshi, beaded Yoshi, and other cute prototypes

Nintendo settled on a knitted yarn style for Yoshi's Woolly World and I don't know what's better: it or Kirby fashioned out of clay in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. Either way, we win. There were other potential designs for th...

Turning yarn Yoshis into yarn balls in Yoshi's Woolly World photo
Turning yarn Yoshis into yarn balls in Yoshi's Woolly World

Yarn Yoshi is a pretty good name. Yoshi's Woolly World is an okay name.

Yoshi's Yarn is a better name and what the game should've been called for the sake of alliteration and Yoshi's Story symmetry (a yarn is like a story!!!). I'm going to keep writing Yoshi's Woolly World as Yoshi's Yarn. Sorry.

Yoshi's Woolly World looks AMAZING photo
Yoshi's Woolly World looks AMAZING
by Jordan Devore

At Nintendo's E3 Digital Event, Good-Feel gave us a long-awaited progress update on Yarn Yoshi, and it's without a doubt the Yoshi game we've been waiting for all these years. It's now called Yoshi's Woolly World and is set for release on Wii U next year.

Good-Feel wanted to create a new type of Yoshi game filled with the same kinds of elements from the adorable Kirby's Epic Yarn, but this time, the world has proper depth, visually.

Much of the focus has been placed on exploration, specifically by way of Yoshi's unique abilities and, going a step further, a two-player mode. Both players are Yoshi -- one red, one green -- and can eat and spit each other out to reach new areas. I'm in love.
