D4 will never appear on PS4, says Swery

I was enamored by D4 recently. Swery's signature charm was all there, and I especially liked that the Kinect-only mechanic was dropped in favor of an optional controller. A lot of people out there have expressed interest in t...

Destiny's loot is now way less aggravating

Here we go. The patch that fixes -- or, at least improves -- how loot works in Destiny. Chris already detailed the patch, which is out now, at length. But the short of it is that Legendary (purple) engrams will now always awa...

NHL 15 predicts entire hockey season, probably gets it horribly wrong

EA Sports used NHL 15 to simulate and predict the upcoming NHL season which begins next week. The results are most likely terribly wrong because nowhere does it anticipate that the Colorado Avalanche will be crowned Sta...

Friendly reminder: Go get yo' free games on Xbox Live! photo
Friendly reminder: Go get yo' free games on Xbox Live!
by Brett Makedonski

With the beginning of a new month, it's time that we all flip our calendars from that picture of an adorable kitten rolling around in the leaves to that picture of an adorable kitten sitting in a pumpkin. It's also time that Xbox Live Gold members should go ahead and swoop on their free games.

As a quick reminder, DICE's highly praised Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is available until October 15 on Xbox 360. On Xbox One, newly released indie cooperative platformer Chariot is free all month long. Chariot's one that you won't want to pass up, especially if you have a partner to sit on the couch and work through it with.

Xbox Live Gold subscribers would be remiss to pass these up. Go ahead and put on your Uggs, froth your pumpkin spice lattes, and queue up some videogames to play.

Get a look a Dragon Age: Inquisition's customization options

I know a lot of people that are really into creation options in games. Dragon Age Origins was partial to this ideology, as the entire point was to craft a character that you had complete control of. This new video by Bi...

Review: Chariot photo
Review: Chariot

Local cooperative play is something that's been increasingly neglected in an age of videogames that pushes online connectivity seemingly first and foremost. It's ironic that titles like Destiny are the current benchmark for social experiences, when all communication is done through a headset. After all, it really doesn't get more personal than sitting next to someone on a couch and working (almost literally) hand-in-hand to achieve a goal.

Frima Studio hasn't forgotten these golden moments of yesteryear, and aims to recapture them with Chariot. The developers succeeded in their ambition. In fact, they pull it off so well, that you might find yourself short-changed when you don't have a partner in crime readily handy.

Shadow of Mordor Playthough - Here's a Groug-sized portion of gameplay

[Note: I am currently in process of rendering and uploading all of the videos to the playlist. If you run out and want more, be sure to check back soon.]

Max and I decided it would be a good idea to shoot a playthrough of the opening chunk of the new Tolkien-verse action game, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. As we got further into it, we realized that Shadow of Mordor is some of the most goddamn fun we've had in a game in a while. Above is the first video in our series. You can watch through the whole playlist if you want to see for yourself how badass this game is.

Playing Alien: Isolation on a convention floor isn't the best idea

Demoing a game like Alien: Isolation at a convention such as EGX or PAX has always been problematic since horror works best when there's time for quieter moments between the scares. There has to be a period of tension buildin...

Free update for Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare adds tweaked classes, tacos photo
Free update for Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare adds tweaked classes, tacos
by Darren Nakamura

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare has already done right by its users by providing good post-launch support via free downloadable content, and it is continuing on that path with tomorrow's Legends of the Lawn update.

The DLC features a host of character variants that add options to both sides of play. Additionally, a new mode called Taco Bandits is included, which is described as capture the flag, but with tacos instead of flags.

Legends of the Lawn should release for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One tomorrow, at the low price of zero dollars. You can't argue with that.
