Dying Light is less about zombies and more about movement photo
Dying Light is less about zombies and more about movement
by Brett Makedonski

What can be done freshen up the zombie genre at this point? Videogames, television shows, movies, comics -- virtually every pop culture medium's been infested by the craze, long ago hitting a saturation (and then oversaturation) point. So, how does a developer like Techland, who's most well-known recently for its zombie games, take the concept and still manage to make it its own?

Techland's creating a game about zombies, that isn't really about zombies. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, that's what it's doing with Dying Light. And who knows -- maybe that's the take on the undead genre that'll liven it up a bit.

We've known that Batman: Arkham Knight has been delayed into 2015, but we haven't had a time frame to hinge our expectations on. Anyone eagerly anticipating the game might be pleased to find out that there's a chance we ...

I made someone's nuts explode in Mortal Kombat X

I've always felt like the videogame industry doesn't feel right without a Mortal Kombat. So many games are always striving to be these serious affairs, and it takes something like Mortal Kombat to remind people that oh right,...

Video: Mortal Kombat X is vile in all the right ways

Mortal Kombat 9 was a damn good fighting game, and a damn good game in general. According to Max and Bill, next year's Mortal Kombat X is shaping up to be more of that. Building on the foundation of MK9 and Injustice: Gods ...

New Shadow of Mordor trailer moves like a ghost, fights like a devil

We spend so much of our lives working. When I die, if there's some sort of afterlife, I want to just chill out. Make it look like a never-ending Corona commercial or something. Doesn't that sound nice? That's not a position ...

Warrior needs food badly

"Warrior needs food... badly!" That's what this little button that hit my office today says. The letter with it says that Gauntlet will be at Warner Bros. booth during E3 next week, providing co-op play for attendees. It also says that there will be a Gauntlet food truck outside the Los Angeles convention center to revive us with free turkey legs!

Dying Light wants to make a murderer out of you

Everything that we've seen of Dying Light thus far has looked neat, but kind of devoid of personality. It's just seemed like another zombie game with attractive running mechanics. This trailer bucks that trend and adds a bit of charisma. It also adds blood. Lots and lots of blood -- especially after the sun goes down.

Equip this Gauntlet trailer to gear up for battle

Ready to play Gauntlet? No, you haven't time-traveled to the 80's, and you don't need a pocket full of loose change. You just need a PC and $20. In preparation for E3, Arrowhead put out this trailer for its remake of Gauntle...

First hands-on of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor won me over photo
First hands-on of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor won me over
by Dale North

I had absolutely no expectations for  Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. I’ve never played any of the franchise games, and I knew very little about the upcoming title. But my first hands on was a very pleasant surprise. A mere 45 minutes of play of its sandbox game got its hooks in me and now I'm totally sold.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is looking stabby

This video for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is supposed to be about runes, which are dropped by fallen foes and used to upgrade protagonist Talion's weapons. And it is. But I can't not concentrate on how ridiculous the act...
