Ten Minute Taste: Alan Wake

Usually these posts are done by either the person who recorded the footage (in this case, Rey) or someone who's gotten the chance to at least play the game in question. I fall under neither of those categories, but I do desp...

Ten Minute Taste: Zeno Clash Ultimate Edition

ACE Team's strange little first-person number, Zeno Clash Ultimate Edition, has hit Xbox LIVE Arcade today. It would probably be easier to explain the plot of David Lynch's Eraserhead than to try to convey the narrative of Z...

Ten Minute Taste: Last Rebellion

If you've ever played one, you'll know that ten minutes is barely enough for a whiff, much less a taste of the typical RPG. That's why we recorded eleven minutes of footage from NIS-America's new title, Last Rebellion, due F...

Ten Minute Taste: No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle

Jonathan Holmes just posted his review of No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle and to call it glowing would be an understatement. I have to agree, as I've been having a hell of a good time with it myself. If you're still not...

Ten Minute Taste: Mass Effect 2

Ten Minute Taste: Darksiders photo
Ten Minute Taste: Darksiders
by Brad Nicholson

I’ve spent a couple of hours or so with THQ and Vigil Games’ Darksiders. I can glean from these initial hours that the game is more than what I thought it was: a God of War clone with some Zelda spice. No, it appears that Darksiders is its own game with unique combat scenarios and satisfying dungeon-crawling sections. Neat, right?

I wish I could say more, but it would be unfair to the parties responsible. But the good news is that you can say whatever the hell you want, and you can get some fuel for your thoughts via this Ten Minute Taste.

You’ll notice that Darksiders starts rather slowly -- the combos are done with just the X button, while the blocking mechanic isn’t even mentioned. All the same, this first bit of the game does show off Darksiders’ narrative, art direction, and even to some extent, scenario design. Kick back, check it out, and tell us what you think.

Five Minute Taste: 0 Day Attack on Earth

Normally we do "Ten Minute Tastes" here at Destructoid, but I ran into a little problem with 0 Day Attack on Earth, which hits Xbox LIVE Arcade today. I died at the five-minute mark. As our own Jonathan Ross put it, "You are...

Ten Minute Taste: Final Fantasy XIII

I'm a good few hours into Final Fantasy XIII now. My verdict so far? It's not groundbreaking, unless you count the visuals. Otherwise, it's a good, solid RPG so far. The battle system has just started to open up, as has the ...
