Did you know you can actually beat Snake? photo
Did you know you can actually beat Snake?
by Tony Ponce

Everyone knows Snake. They've played it on their computers, on their phones, on their friggin' TI-83 calculators. It was Angry Birds before there was Angry Birds.

But did you know there's an actual ending? This GIF tearing up the joint on reddit proves just that. I only wish I knew Russian!

Awesome Resident Evil short has typewriters and unlocking

I have admitted in the past to finding dumb pleasure in the Paul W. S. Anderson Resident Evil movies. But even though I enjoy them, I wouldn't exactly be opposed to a different film treatment that, you know, actually adhered...

This is the greatest Link figurine of all time

That Link figma by Max Factory which went on sale last year? It is now garbage. Find the closest waste receptacle and chuck that sh*t in there with extreme prejudice. That Link on Epona statue by First 4 Figures? It doesn't e...

What if household furniture had DRM?

SimCity's always-online DRM scheme is seriously the worst. How anti-consumer can you get? Whenever a studio decides to implement something extremely backwards like limited installations or online checks, you have to wonder i...

Nintendo Force magazine is the new kid on the block photo
Nintendo Force magazine is the new kid on the block
by Tony Ponce

So Nintendo Power is over and done with. Tears and all that. Pour one out for our homies.

The throne has been abdicated. Time for a new king to rise to power.

You've likely heard about a little something called Nintendo Force magazine. Lucas Thomas, Nintendo editor over on IGN, decided that there always needs to be a source of non-stop Nintendo news in this world, so he decided to fire off a few emails and assemble a team, Avengers style.

Nintendo Force will be both a print and online periodical, and the founding team features 16 of the most notable Nintendo heads in the industry. The squad includes got Kevin "RMC" Cassidy from GoNintendo, Matthew Taranto from Brawl in the Family, my buddy David Oxford from 1UP and The Mega Man Network, Daan Koopman from Nintendo World Report, and the loveable, huggable Jonathan Holmes, who has been a sneaky little sneak and not told anyone of his secret plans!

I wish the magazine the best and hope it can carry the torch that Nintendo Power hoisted for nearly 25 years. Follow all the updates, including the yet-to-be-announced first issue launch, either on the Nintendo Force website or the Facebook page.

World didn't end, have a Majora's Mask arrange album photo
World didn't end, have a Majora's Mask arrange album
by Tony Ponce

Imagine that. Nothing happened. Certainly today was to be the end of the world according to the Mayans, even though the Mayans never actually said that. Either way, hurray for life!

As we mentioned yesterday, musician Theophany had a countdown page, and once the clock reached zero, he unveiled Time's End: Majora's Mask Remixed, an arrangement album of one of the best -- if not the best -- Zelda game ever. Peppered in key spots are live instruments and vocals, truly giving the sense of impending doom. Just listen to "Clocktown" and be amazed!

This is merely the first part of a project that will eventually cover the entire Majora's Mask soundtrack. You can download it for free from the countdown site above, or you can slide on over to the Bandcamp page and toss in a donation of your choosing. Whatever works!
