Gravity Rush 2 'in earnest development,' my heart not yet broken

Since being teased at Tokyo Game Show 2013, Gravity Rush 2 has been quiet. I certainly missed it at TGS 2014. And just about every other event I went to this year, even if it was an event that there was no way a Gravity ...

Harmonix returns to classic rhythm-action with Amplitude photo
Harmonix returns to classic rhythm-action with Amplitude
by Alessandro Fillari

Before the folks at Harmonix Studios put themselves on the map with Guitar Hero and Rock Band, it was known for the cult hits Frequency and Amplitude. Blending fast-paced rhythm-based action with mesmerizing visuals and an electronic soundtrack, players could tap their feet along with the beat while using quick reflexes to achieve the high score. Though the titles never lit the charts on fire, they garnered a cult following and were fondly remembered among fans of rhythm games.

With the success of Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and Dance Central under their belts, the developers at Harmonix decided it was time to revisit the long-dormant series. Keen to show off an early build of the game in time for the upcoming PlayStation Experience event, the devs were confident they nailed their reboot of Amplitude.

And with the success of their Kickstarter campaign, they've definitely got an audience ready to check out the reunion with the long-missed series.

Review: Freedom Wars photo
Review: Freedom Wars
by Brett Zeidler

Ever since it came out in Japan earlier this year, Freedom Wars has been high on my list of anticipated releases. Being from the illustrious SCE Japan Studio, the game found success overseas as one of the Vita's answers to a lack of the market-leading Monster Hunter franchise, which jumped platforms with the advent of the Nintendo 3DS.

As a hunting game, Freedom Wars certainly stays true to the heart of the genre, but differentiates itself enough to claim its own spot among the giants.

Bloodborne is bleak and unforgiving photo
Bloodborne is bleak and unforgiving
by Alessandro Fillari

It seems like yesterday when we were all huddling around the mysterious WebM videos floating around the internet. Showing a strange and unknown game resembling a Souls title, many people didn't know what to make of it. The character looked unlike anything from Dark Souls or even Demon's Souls, and the weaponry looked even more bizarre. But the more we saw, the more intrigued we all became. Tentatively called Project Beast, the footage showed a world in chaos, very much like the previous Souls titles.

During Sony's E3 press conference, we finally got the official reveal of the game, now called Bloodborne, and what we saw was something far more bleak and depressing than anything the previous Souls titles could muster. Once more details began to surface, fans were curious to find many changes to standard gameplay.

But was this still a Souls game? Well, Destructoid was invited out to PlayStation HQ in San Mateo to play some of their gamescom offerings, and we got to spend some quality time with From Software's next title.

Digging deeper into The Tomorrow Children
by Dale North

At a gamescom briefing today, Dylan Cuthbert of Q-Games showed off their brand collaboration with Sony Studios Japan for the first time. PS4 title The Tomorrow Children (temporary title) is quite different from Q-Games' other titles, but it does share their trademark creativity and imagination.

It's...pretty weird.
