This Splatoon 60fps trailer is just hnnngh

Splatoon came out of nowhere, and it shot into my most anticipated list of 2015. As an unconventional shooter it looks pretty great, and the constant morphing from human to squid looks like it has a lot of value on a tactical level. Although this trailer isn't new, Nintendo has uploaded another version of it that runs at 60fps, so give it a go!

Far Cry 4's alternate ending only takes a half hour to access

Alternate endings are a fascinating way to put a non-canonical spin on the tales that we know and love. Sometimes it's a silly and light-hearted Pentagon piefight. Others are grim, like Dante taking a bullet to the chest on ...

If you like spaceships, Fractured Space could be your jam photo
If you like spaceships, Fractured Space could be your jam
by Steven Hansen

The makers of Strike Suit Zero are increasing the scale of their space battles with a new game, Fractured Space, which features 5 vs 5 matches between massive ships.

The newly minted Edge Case Games, comprised of Strike Suit's same Born Ready folks, had this to say: "Above all else we want to transmit a sense of scale to the player - the feeling of participating in a massive space battle inside their own titanic capital ship, blasting apart enemy ships and working together with other players to achieve a common objective."

I talked with Edge Case Games CEO James Brooksby at Game Connection Europe about, "the game that was in [his] head when [he] was 14."

Hot Hot Heat: Heists are finally coming to GTA Online soon

Rockstar's been notably tardy on its delivery of the much-anticipated heists to Grand Theft Auto Online. In fact, the delay was so great that most players wrote the feature off as a promise that would go unfulfilled. That's n...

Review: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth photo
Review: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
by Nic Rowen

In 2011, I lost a chunk of my life. An insidious tendril of addiction, despair, and obsession caught me by the ankle and dragged me into the The Binding of Isaac's darkened basement. I lost dozens of hours, whole days at a time. I let life slip by around me while muttering a demented mantra of “just one more try, just one more try...”

Now with the release of Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, a 16-bit looking half-remake, half-sequel of the original, I can feel the same cold touch on my leg. Its grip is stronger than ever, pulling me back into the same dark pit. I should kick and scream and try to escape... Well, maybe just one more try won't kill me.

Blizzard announces first new franchise in 17 years, Overwatch photo
Blizzard announces first new franchise in 17 years, Overwatch
by Steven Hansen

Over at Blizzcon today, Blizzard has announced Overwatch. This is named similarly to Insomniac's original name for Fuse, which was Overstrike, and is also a cartoonish, team-based first-person shooter.

There is a fighting gorilla in it. And it's coming out sooner than you might expect, with a beta starting in 2015 and Blizzcon attendees able to play it this weekend.

You can sign up for the beta here. There are also little profiles for all of the announced heroes, including gameplay videos. so start calling dibs. I like Hanzo, Tracer, and Mercy for looking like an Evangelion

Nano Assault NEO-X can scratch that Stardust itch on PS4

Splatoon might just be Nintendo's most promising new game

When Nintendo announced its wacky four-on-four shooter Splatoon at E3, I thought it looked cool -- spraying ink on the battlefield and then swimming around in said ink is cool -- but I didn't freak out like some people. Havi...

Review: Sunset Overdrive photo
Review: Sunset Overdrive
by Chris Carter

After booting the game up, it's apparent that Sunset Overdrive is the result of Insomniac Games going back to its roots. Before the developer was called upon to release the shades-of-brown-tinted Resistance and Fuse, it was known for the bright and exciting Spyro and Ratchet & Clank franchises, which were among the PlayStation's finest offerings for gamers of all ages.

Not only is Sunset bright and exciting, it's actually a good game too.
